25.01.2022 NEW COMMITTEE ELECTED A big thank you to everyone who attended the AGM last week either in person, via a proxy or via a zoom link. It was great to have all the positions filled with return committee member plus a new member from the Darwin Badminton Club. At our first meeting, all committee members will participate in a Governance training online program so we are ready to plan a big, successful year of badminton across the NT. 24.01.2022 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING MONDAY 16TH NOVEMBER - 7:45pm. There will be 2 ways to attend the AGM this year 1. at the Venue in Winnellie or ... 2. via a Zoom link from your home or with your playing group. Nominations to join the committee and Proxy voting forms are available on the Badminton NT website. All forms including motions for the meeting need to be emailed to the secretary at [email protected] by Sunday 8th November.

24.01.2022 Our Term 4 program returns on Monday 12th October 2020. As COVID restrictions on numbers apply, there will be limited places available. Membership fees will be due as of 01/10/2020 (except for those who have joined for the 1st time in the last few months) and as per the programme guidelines, participation will be accepted on a first in first paid status. Sports Vouchers can be accepted please ensure they are valid ie Semester 2, 2020 exp 31/05/2021. Anyone with any outstanding fees will not be accepted into the Term 4 program. Enrolment forms are available on our website www.ntbadminton.org.au

19.01.2022 Upcoming Events May 22nd and 23rd - Alice/ Darwin challenge - Players from Darwin will travel to Alice Springs with a smile on their faces as they are bringing the trophy with them. Alice Springs players are hoping to wipe the smile off their face and take back what they feel is theirs. June 5th and 6th - Badminton Australia Development Coach - Renuga Veeran - will be conducting a training camp at the Winnellie venue for players from Darwin and Alice Springs. ... Badminton NT thanks the NT Government for diverting funds from the cancelled Arafura Games into the development of badminton across the NT.

19.01.2022 NTG Office of Youth Affairs Supports Youth Week Badminton Over the October school holidays, Bev and her band of helpers organised 2 sessions of badminton training and games for players from 10 to 18 years. A big thanks to the NT Office of Youth Affairs for providing the grant to support this event. Go to the NT Badminton website to see more photos

18.01.2022 WSBA Graded and Junior Tournament 2021. Seven players from the Badminton NT training squad travelled to Altona in Melbourne to compete in singles, doubles and mixed events from the 10th to the 17th, April. Our senior players Karel, Manoj, Jessica and MJ- were the first to fly the NT flag in the Open, A grade and C grade events. Although not reaching the finals, there tenacity and ‘never say die’ attitude made for some excellent rallies and close matches.... Monday saw the start of the Junior events with Zehou and Jemma as our representatives in Under 13 sections. After a challenging start, both players took their best game into their mixed doubles and came out victorious. Manoj, Saranya, Jessica and MJ will continue making our presence felt at this tournament for the rest of the week.

17.01.2022 New Committee elected and ready to go. Members don't forget to send in your survey questions so you can have a say on the future of badminton and the focus areas for 2021. 11.01.2022 Bring On the Competitions!! After a very successful tournament in Melbourne last weekend, Karel, Manoj and Saranya have headed to Adelaide to compete in the City of Adelaide Open and Graded tournament this weekend. We wish them all the best as they build on their experiences from Altona and look forward to the photos and stories when they return.

06.01.2022 All playing groups are now going full speed ahead into the new year. The Junior Development squad will start in February when school goes back. Enrolment forms and registration information will be available from Monday 25th January 2021. The Darwin/Alice Springs Challenge is due to be held in Alice Springs this year so start thinking about defending or regaining the trophy depending on who you will be playing for.

06.01.2022 It's official!! Alice Lanka Badminton Club is now an Incorporated Association. Well done committee and members. A wise move forward.

05.01.2022 Launch of new brand - Badminton Australia Today saw the launch of the new badminton brand for Australia and the start of some very exciting new beginnings. All states and Territories have a new logo that represents the amazing positives when you play badminton, a tag line that sums up the game of badminton, a new national team and a mascot to go with the team. There is only one problem - the mascot needs a name. If you can think of a good name then enter the competition and you might be the winner. 03.01.2022 NEW COVID PROCEDURES NT Badminton now have a QR code at the hall. Members will continue to sign the attendance sheet for both contract tracing and insurance purposes. Visitors and non-members have the choice of signing the attendance sheet or scanning the code and completing the details using their phone.

03.01.2022 Badminton NT wishes to thank all the members, players and their families who have supported the committee throughout the challenges of 2020. Badminton has stayed strong and survived; so now we are ready to take on the new look badminton season of 2021. Have a fantastic holiday break wherever you may be and if you are in Darwin the courts are available for private hire every day except Christmas Day.
