25.01.2022 Amazing, look at those happy faces ! 21 swimmers made it to last Wednesday Night training with a great set by coach Greg! Only two more sessions left to burn off the pre-xmas calories before we finish up for 2020.
25.01.2022 The coral coast classic scheduled for September has advised the event is no longer going ahead. Details in their post follow.
24.01.2022 We are all looking forward to an easing of restrictions with the National roadmap now in place. States and territories will roll out on an individual basis with further details to be released. Pools should be amongst the mix of activities.
24.01.2022 Two Sinkers met Andre Slade (partner and bub also) from "Oceanfit". The site is focussed on open water swimming with coaching, trips, merchandise etc as it's function. It features Podcasts, images, information and forums on ows. We introduced Andre to Balnagowan, managed a swim with Sue on her SUP. A snippet of a future podcast is here https://oceanfit.com.au/north-mackay-sinkers/ You can follow the link to hear our experienced media person Sue in the recording. I also have a few wise words to impart. They managed some great shots of Balnagowan and if you don't have time to follow the link a few images are attached. The water temp on Saturday was perfect.
23.01.2022 Limited access and hours but the Pioneer & ARC pools open tomorrow with special conditions. So jump on in, book your lane and enjoy the uncluttered swim.
23.01.2022 Disappointingly we are cancelling our 2020 OWS at Balnagowan. MSQ has withdrawn all Sanctioned events for the remainder of 2020 due to ongoing CV19 uncertainty. This means we can no longer hold our OWS due on Nov 1. But it does mean we can plan for 2021! When we have more details we will update you. (The crater classic on the Atherton tablelands in October has also been cancelled.)

15.01.2022 Details of the article if you had trouble with the link. MACKAY Aquatic and Recreation Centre and Pioneer Swim Centre will reopen to the public from Wednesday, May 20. Because of new regulations required as part of the Queensland Government's COVID-19 roadmap to easing restrictions, swimmers will be required to book in advance if they wish to use the facilities and attendance will be restricted to 10 people per pool. Bookings will be limited to one-hour intervals including ...45 minutes for swimming and 15 minutes for changeover. Communal showers and changerooms will be closed and residents are encouraged to change in and out of their swimming suits at home, rather than at the pools. There will also be limits of one swimmer per lane and no spectators will be allowed into the facility, except for one parent/carer per child, if necessary. Learn to swim classes will remain suspended at this stage. The athletics complex at Mackay ARC will also be open for bookings. Bluewater Lagoon, Memorial Swim Centre, Sarina Swim Centre and Mirani Swim Centre are all currently closed for winter maintenance. See more

13.01.2022 Get ready to push yourself in paradise! We are thrilled to confirm the 2020 Hamilton Island Triathlon and Ocean Swim will be going ahead. Due to social distanci...ng requirements and as the safety of participants is our priority, we have made the decision to host the Whitehaven Beach Ocean Swim on Catseye Beach this year. Given this change, the Ocean Swim will now take place on the afternoon of the 21st of November. The Triathlon and Junior Triathlon will be held on the morning of the 22nd of November. If you are impacted by this decision or should you no longer be able to participate in these events, we will be offering a full refund on entry fees. Please contact us at [email protected] to discuss your options. We look forward to sharing the full program of events for the weekend with you shortly. www.hamiltonisland.com.au/sports-events/endurance-series

12.01.2022 Did you know... Training with the Sinkers is only $5 for a coached session?! You can train as little or as much as you like, meaning its perfect for everyone shift workers/parents/triathletes etc... As long as you can swim a little and are over 18 years old, we are as casual or as competitive as you want. One thing we definately are is social and friendly!... You can swim with us for 1 month before required to join Masters Swimming Queensland which is an annual fee of $99 (but covers our insurances so we are all protected). Come have a go... what have you got to lose..? (except some of those pesky Christmas Calories )
11.01.2022 If you checked your time and place you can now check if you had it all together when finishing. Link to images below https://hamiltonislandphotography.shootproof.com//enduran/

05.01.2022 The Swim Around Keppel 2020 event had near perfect conditions with some 30 solo swimmers and 6 teams registered for the 20 km event. Congratulations to Naomi, our Yeppoon based Sinker for taking on and completing the solo event. Our Sinkers team of 4 bolstered by a young gun (thanks Connor!) managed a great time of 5 hrs 11 minutes 38 seconds and was the first team to cross the line. The first solo swimmer cracked the 5 hour mark finishing in 4 hours 58 minutes. The SAK21 is scheduled for August 7 2021 and is a capped event and is well worth considering for your 2021swim event calendar. The map is our team track of our kayak.
