23.01.2022 Thank you to everybody who has joined in on the Pride celebrations so far! To finish off this week, we will be watching Half of It at 7pm tonight. Come along, make some friends and watch a wholesome queer movie!... Not used Netflix Party before? It is a Google Chrome extension that allows users to watch Netflix movies together and chat at the same time. You can download the Netflix Party extension for Google Chrome here: https://www.netflixparty.com/ You will need a special URL to join the party, which we will release just before the event. 23.01.2022 Women in Higher Ed week (otherwise known as blue stocking week) falls on the first week of September this year Normally the Women’s Collective hosts an annu...al networking brunch, however due to COVID-19 we have unfortunately had to post-pone this event. It’s not all bad though! Instead we have decided to create an online networking opportunity for students, academics and industry professionals to get involved with! We want to highlight all the amazing humans who make up our university community and shed light on who they are and why they are studying! The questions in this survey can be answered in any way you see fit - throughout the entire week we will be posting your responses on our social media in the hopes to connect like-minded people and get everyone feeling inspired! We hope you will join us in this opportunity to connect in a new and different way! https://docs.google.com//1FAIpQLScnPOUKFpSxKNMFC/viewform

21.01.2022 Happy Wear It Purple Day. Wear It Purple Day was founded by Katherine Hudson and Scott Williams in 2010. It started out small and has become a national movement that is celebrated annually. Wear It Purple Day is about fostering environments that are safe, empowering, inclusive and supportive of young LGBTQIA+ people.... The theme for Wear It Purple Day this year is, We Are The Change. The theme is representative of the need to create productive and inclusive changes that focus on safety, empowerment and inclusion.

21.01.2022 Happy IDAHOBIT!! This year the theme is breaking the silence. 30 years ago - on May 17, 1990 - the World Health Organization removed homosexuality from the Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems.... International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia and Transphobia is a day to celebrate LGBTQIA+ people around the globe and be proud of the achievements that the LGBTQIA+ community has made through history. It is also important to keep to remember that while today is a day to celebrate and be proud of the achievements of LGBTQIA+ people, there are still things that we need to fight for.

10.01.2022 Today marks National Sorry Day. The first National Sorry Day was held on May 26th in 1998, one year after the Bringing Them Home Report was tabled in Parliament. Today marks 23 years after the Bringing Them Home Report and 12 years since the national apology in 2008. Today is day to recognise and acknowledge the mistreatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who were forcibly removed from their families, and who are recognised as being members of the Stolen Gene...rations. Today is a day to recognise that there is still injustices that we need to continue fighting against. @blakbusiness on Instagram provides some great images with more information.

01.01.2022 Hi everyone, some people might not be aware but there has been a change with the student union. NUSA, NUPSA and Yourimbah are no longer operating separately, they have merged together and plan to take over the roles of each of those entities. This new merged student association is called University of Newcastle Student Association or UNSA. There should not be any real changes to the student experiences of the collective. However, things may be a little bit slow as things are... just being set up. The collective now has a new email. If you need to get into contact with the collective you can still message the Facebook page or email the collective on [email protected]. UNSA also has a Facebook page and a website where you can keep an eye on how things are going.
