14.01.2022 Another amazing success story from one of our growers! Congratulations to Gralyn Estate on their fantastic results this year. Their shiraz was harvested exactly 1 month earlier than last year with a 46% increase in yield, despite the overall grape crush in Australia being down an average of 20%. Here's what they said: "Cabernet berry condition was excellent. They were all plump and full, not much decay at all on any of the skins. Very different picture to last year. Thrilled ...to be walking through and 95% of the vineyard looks like this. "One noticeable difference in the canopy this year post harvest is the lack of Leaf Roll Virus expressing itself. Canopy hung in there really well, green all the way through, very few vines at the moment showing the symptoms. "Brilliant program. So many in the region with small yields, even on their reds... I cant wait to continue to refine what we are doing and how I go about it. Good times ahead! We are all thrilled with the results and its only early days. So... Yes! Awesome program." 06.01.2022 A wonderful success story from one of our growers in India, Kaapi Royale Coffee, led by the talented Nishant Gurger. Nishant grows robusta coffee on 200 acres of plantation at 2,500 ft altitude in Karnataka, exports worldwide, and supplies a large coffee chain in Melbourne. He has won awards for his coffee 9 years in a row, and continues maintaining quality and lifting yield with absolutely no chemicals, not even herbicides in the crop. Nishant uses a refractometer to measure... Brix, which indicates maturity and ripeness of the coffee berry. He picks at a high Brix level to develop full flavours in his beans before processing. https://shop.nutri-tech.com.au/products/refractometer His attention to detail in sticking to the nutrition program has contributed to his success. 05.01.2022 Another great story from some of our growers across the way, in India. Prabhakar and Sankar Baskar are brothers who farm 1500 acres of high altitude plantation in Kerala & Karnataka. Each brother manages a plantation within their family company. Sankar has attended our NTS Certificate in Nutrition Farming seminar twice and has since been instrumental in raising awareness that there is another way to grow high yielding, top quality coffee and plantation crops other than heavy ...pesticide and fertiliser use. Prabhakar has about 30 hectares of cardamom on his Arabica estate. It is a good cash crop, but under conventional management requires regular pesticide intervention and large amounts of fertiliser. He was a total believer in chemical agriculture as the only way to earn an income from plantation crops, until our fantastic agronomist Steve Capeness visited him and spent a day touring his extensive fields. Here's what he said: "We had a fantastic visit of Steve to our place... it was one of the most productive days in my 22 year experience in plantations. Mind blowing information was shared by him. We are planning to work with him to make our farm more sustainable and to eliminate fungicides and pesticides from now on hope to be the first cardamom plantation in India to phase them out". After about 5 months things of carefully following the NTS Nutrition Farming programs changed dramatically. He said: As our potash levels were very high in our cardamom blocks we totally omitted the same as per your recommendation and added calcium and magnesium. Plants are very healthy with lowest Phytophthora problem this year. Sankar was at our next visit to Prabhakar's plantation and he marvelled at the changes to the soil quality and health: Soil balancing and stubble (litter) digestion, 2 rounds, have flocculated the soil - unimaginable loosening of soil for easy root movements plenty of roots. This was never quite possible earlier. Congrats to Steve and his magic. After 12 months, Prabhakar's cardamom had gone from 40% premium grade to 70% premium grade, reducing the tedious amount of hand picking and sorting through cardamom pods to find the good ones. This was a change that was worth a huge amount of money on top of the savings gained from reducing his fertiliser bill by 50% and completely eliminating all chemical pesticides from the cardamom fields. "Getting top yields, thanks a ton for your expertise Steve. You make the impossible seem possible. Prabhakar Baskar
