25.01.2022 The Power of Food Love this study published in the journal Cell November 2015. Moving towards an era of personalised nutrition is within our reach now, we don't have to wait any longer.... This study tracked 800 individuals for one week measuring blood sugar levels and discovered, surprise surprise, they metabolised their food differently, creating blood sugar highs and lows. We know that blood sugar balance is incredibly important to the human body and certain conditions are a direct result of incorrect balance here. Think diabetes, metabolic syndrome, cancer and alzheimer's as examples. Speaking to individuals on a daily basis regarding their nutrition, it is obvious that we must move out of the one size fits all, food pyramid and calorie/KJ driven mentality of nutrition we have endured now for decades. Health is an individual process and with a personalised approach of working with our body and not against it we may all have the opportunity to improve our health and well being. Healthy feels good, keep it real, be food smart and stay nutrition positive! Enjoy reading the study, it's worth your time. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releas/2015//151119133230.htm

These gems are loaded with fibre, vitamins and minerals and they also contain a wonderful compound called Calcium d glucarate. ... This gift of nature is great for estrogen metabolism, so all of those hormonal problems we suffer silently through each month. Think PMS, endometriosis, bloating, swelling, breast tenderness and you may find them effective if you are prone to hormonal headaches. Remember to eat the whole fruit, as the juice doesn't count, that's just a sugar hit! You may find that an apple a day, may just keep a headache away! Keep it real, be food smart and stay nutrition positive!

16.01.2022 To Paleo Or Not To Paleo? A small study on genetically bred obese mice has been published in a highly regarded nutrition journal regarding a low carbohydrate high fat diet (LCHFD). The paper discusses the negative effects of this type of diet for those who are already overweight, prediabetic & those who have diabetes type 2, due to poor insulin control. Positively, the study did find that triglyceride levels were improved following a LCHFD diet. ... The study was conducted over a couple of months and it is an animal study, therefore not a human study. Saturated fats made up the majority of the diet and the types of these fats are not disclosed. Perhaps if a study with this type of diet, where quality saturated fats were consumed were to be conducted on those with autoimmune conditions for instance, we may have a different and possibly positive outcome. Ultimately, of importance, is that your nutrition is appropriate for your particular condition and biochemistry. In this instance, this style of eating may not be suitable for insulin related disorders, however may be of benefit for other conditions. When making decisions about "diet", it is important to read the actual studies and not be easily led by headlines. The study was conducted by a prestigious institution in Melbourne and is available online for the nutritionally conscious. Keep it real, be food smart & stay nutrition positive!
