25.01.2022 They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them

23.01.2022 BE PART OF SOMETHING BIGGER - JOIN THE NSW SES Right across Northern NSW during the past six weeks, NSW SES volunteers from across the state have come together to assist communities affected by flood water. It is yet another great example of the community helping each other through crisis.... Our volunteers have undertaken so many vital roles in assisting flood affected communities and they have done an amazing job at it. What have our members been up to: Collecting flood data and images of the water impacting communities to help prepare for future events. Conducting patrols of flood affected areas to ensure the communities which are affected remain safe. Undertaking remote restocking of isolated communities and properties with food, water and medical supplies. Patrolling river systems and undertaking flood rescues when community members get stuck in flood water. Hosting community barbeques and other engagement events to inform and connect with local communities. There are so many options to assist your community by being a member of the NSW SES- and you'll get plenty of training and new skills while you are at it! If you have been inspired by our wonderful volunteers during this current flooding and would like to enquire about joining the NSW SES and helping your community - register your interest to join by clicking here https://bit.ly/3lms7cc We hope to hear from you. 22.01.2022 #BePrepared With thunderstorm activity over NSW expected to develop over the east of the state from today, there is the possibility of localised and flash flooding in some areas across NSW Friday and Saturday. Whilst no warnings have been issued at this stage, thunderstorm warnings are likely to be issued throughout this period, particularly on Friday and Saturday. Depending on the volume of rain received in catchments, flood warnings could also be issued should catchments... receive sufficient rainfall. If you come across floodwaters, please turn around, crossing flooded roads or causeways is not worth the risk. If it's flooded - forget it! Over the next few days, be sure to visit the Bureau of Meteorology for the latest weather warnings affecting your location. http://bit.ly/2wuOXWt #GetReady See more

07.01.2022 Severe Thunderstorm Warning for DAMAGING WINDS, LARGE HAILSTONES and HEAVY RAINFALL For people in Central Tablelands, North West Slopes and Plains, Central West Slopes and Plains, South West Slopes, Australian Capital Territory, Northern Tablelands and parts of Hunter, Southern Tablelands, Riverina, Lower Western, Upper Western and Snowy Mountains Forecast Districts.... Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Armidale, Orange, Canberra, Yass, Tamworth, Gunnedah, Moree, Narrabri, Walgett, Dubbo, Parkes and Lightning Ridge. - A 47kt (87 km/h) wind gust was observed at Coonamble at 14:56 AEDT The State Emergency Service advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony. * Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences. * Report fallen power lines to either Ausgrid (131 388), Endeavour Energy (131 003), Essential Energy (132 080) or Evoenergy (131 093) as shown on your power bill. * Trees that have been damaged by fire are likely to be more unstable and more likely to fall. * Keep clear of creeks and storm drains. * Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water. * If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue. * Be aware that run-off from rainfall in fire affected areas may behave differently and be more rapid. It may also contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks. * After bushfires, heavy rain and the loss of foliage can make the ground soft and heavy, leading to a greater chance of landslides. * Unplug computers and appliances. * Avoid using the phone during the storm. * Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well. * Stay vigilant and monitor conditions. Note that the landscape may have changed following bushfires. * For emergency help in floods and storms, ring the SES (NSW and ACT) on 132 500. Issued at 4:08 pm Saturday, 24 October 2020.
