16.01.2022 Junior Sports Day - Sprints (heats & finals) & Field Events.

16.01.2022 YEAR 6 DESIGN TECHNOLOGY - Design Challenge We designed prototypes to collect rubbish in the ocean. We needed to take into consideration ways our design could not hard marine life or pollute. We had to make sure our design fitted the criteria - sustainability, safety, durability, and an identified need (cleaning up rubbish). This was a great link to our Ocean Rafting Trip.

16.01.2022 MORE NAIDOC CELEBRATIONS Prep C have listened to a variety of Dreaming stories. Tiddalick the Frog was one of our favourites. The students drew a picture of the giant frog and then wrote about how they would make him laugh. Prep S decorated our own foot to represent ourselves and acknowledge that we all walk together in our own life journey.

15.01.2022 800m Photos - Results will be published tomorrow.

15.01.2022 MODIFIED SPORTS DAY 2020 Due to the current Covid situation we will be holding modified/fun Sports Days next week. Parents are unable to attend the events due to Covid restrictions. It will be set up as fun activities for the students and these will be carried out in year level groups and not age groups as results are not needed for the next level (Cumberland, Mackay, Capricornia). Junior - Thursday 17th September (Prep to Year 2) Senior - Friday 18th September (Year 3-6) Students need to wear their sports colours (Red - Brampton, Yellow - Carlisle, Blue - Keswick). If you are unsure of your sports house, please speak to the class teacher or office staff. We will flood the pages with photos.

13.01.2022 Instead of telling children they can't play with sticks in our forest play area, Mrs Long set them the challenge to create something. Here is the new plover's nest created. It will be interesting to see if anything takes up residency?

04.01.2022 It has been brought to my attention that 2 suicides were live streamed on social media in the last few days. Whilst the social media platforms (Facebook & Tik Tok) took the video down, it had already been saved by some Tik Tok subscribers and shared. It is my understanding that it has now been 'spammed' across the internet and the school will not allow access to the internet whilst students are at school until we are sure that the Department has processes in place to ensure ...students cannot view it through our intranet. As I am sure you understand, it is often beyond your and my control to what the kids can view when out of adult supervision. Uncensored content is always a huge concern at the best of times. If this content is indeed true and not a hoax I ask that we work together to support our student community. At school, we will sensitively make available our Student Support Services Team if students identify their desire to talk to someone about it. We will also have our eyes open to identify any distressed students. At home, could I ask that you monitor for any change in your child’s behaviour and encourage them to tell you about any concerns they have. Make yourself available for your children whenever they may need to talk a moment through. It may not relate to the video, but I feel it is important for us all to be on the front foot in protecting our young people of MNBSHS. Other avenues of support include:- Beyond Blue (https://www.beyondblue.org.au/) Kids Helpline (https://kidshelpline.com.au/) and e-Headspace (https://headspace.org.au/eheadspace/)
