16.01.2022 Are you left hemisphere centric or right hemisphere centric? In a world that is focussed and values the left hemisphere - we can become unbalanced. Arts therapy accesses the right hemisphere and gives form to feelings and preverbal states that we are not consciously aware of. By representing these states in IMAGE we bring it into conscious awareness thus connecting the whole brain and integrating experiences.

How I wish I could facilitate the women at Marrmak (Dame Phyllis Frost Centre) to share their stories through the arts with those who live outside of the walls..... In my womens arts therapy group each fortnight in the prison, at least of the participants are indigenous.

Everyone has been so welcoming and I feel so excited to begin this project and to provide women in Marrmak opportunities to express themselves using their own CREATIVITY. Nothing is more fulfilling for me as an Arts Therapist than facilitating an expressive arts group for women whose expression is usually very, very limited. Looking forward to tomorrow ladies...One more group session left of the current funding. Fingers crossed we get funding to offer this again.
