22.01.2022 COMMUNITY INFORMATION Lead-In-Air: Nyrstar update on results and commitment to improvement Nyrstar will exceed a challenging new reduced Lead-In-Air (LIA) limit, that will be assessed on an average basis for the 12 months to 31 December 2020.... The reduced LIA, introduced by the EPA in June as part of Nyrstar’s renewed operating license, is 20% lower than the previous license limit. The average LIA result for the 12 months to 31 December 2020 is approximately 0.42 micrograms per cubic metre (g Pb/m3). This result, while well below the previous limit, exceeds the new limit by approximately 0.02 g Pb/m3. Nyrstar believes that average LIA results to 31 December 2020 were significantly influenced by two very hot, dry, windy days in November. In the absence of high wind on these days Nyrstar expects average LIA would have been below 0.4 g Pb/m3. Nyrstar acknowledged in June that the new limit would be a significant challenge for the site, and has been proactive undertaking numerous initiatives throughout the year to improve air quality in the community and to work to meet the challenging new limits. These have included completion of significant capital works during maintenance stops, upgrading of its air monitoring network, initiating new road and materials handling improvements and purchasing new street sweepers to deliver an improved and expanded site cleaning program. These works have occurred against the backdrop of challenging COVID-19 business and operating conditions, which have disrupted the arrival of specialist contractors, delayed orders for new equipment and stretched our resilient dedicated local workers. Nyrstar remains committed to delivering a step-change reduction in its LIA as the Port Pirie site continues to progress towards a more stable and sustainable operation. During 2020 and planned for 2021, Nyrstar is completing substantial investments ($25M+) which focus on improving plant operations that will assist improved air quality. These investments will continue in 2021 and will include increased coverage of stockpiled materials, installation of further materials handling equipment and dust suppression spray systems, and optimisation of production processes to control emissions.

20.01.2022 HARRISON IS ON THE MOVE Meet 8-month-old Harrison. He loves spending time on the floor playing and sliding around as he gets ready to crawl. He also loves chewing and sucking on things. Babies are vulnerable to environmental lead exposure and can absorb more than 50% of the lead that enters their bodies. As babies get older and spend more time on the floor and begin to put toys and objects into mouths, their blood lead levels can increase quite rapidly. Harrison has just had ...his first blood lead level test at the Environmental Health Centre. His Mum, Teesha, said his results were good and she knows it’s important to keep an eye on things. Here are Teesha’s Tips: Wash dummies regularly, especially if they end up on the floor; Keep a spare clean dummy in a sealed container ready to swap in; Wash baby toys and playthings regularly, particularly those that get sucked and chewed; Wash and dry hands frequently yours and baby’s; Before laying a baby on the floor put down a clean rug or blanket as a play mat. These can be washed; Clean floors regularly. Either vacuum or damp mop when the kids are elsewhere; Leave shoes at the door to stop dirt being tramped in on those clean floors! Share this post with family and friends who have little ones or little ones who come to visit. EHC recommends babies should have their first Blood Lead Level test when they are 6 1/2 months old. 11.01.2022 COMMUNITY INFORMATION: January 1, 2021 Nyrstar is about to start trials to test the pre-treatment of feed for the Blast Furnace that could result in a more rapid reduction of stockpiles on site. The company wishes to advise that it plans to commence a plant trial during the week commencing 4 January 2021. The trial will be conducted on Weekdays for up to 2 months from the commencement date. ... The objective of the trial is to pre-treat leach product to remove moisture and agglomerate feed for the Blast Furnace. The trial will provide critical data that can then be used to identify technical feasibility and what upgrades are required to allow the pre-treatment of leach product to enable a more rapid removal of current stockpiles from the site. This will subsequently also contribute to a reduction in lead and dust concentrations within Port Pirie. Strict environmental controls approved by the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) have been put in place to control the environmental risks and as a result there is expected to be minimal impact within the community. The potential for increased dust emissions during the trial has been identified and additional monitoring and controls have been put in place. The feed material has a low sulfur concentration that will be captured in the site industrial ventilation system and vented via the Tall Stack. The sulfur dioxide levels are anticipated to be well below historical levels during the trial and there is expected to be negligible impact on ground level concentrations within Port Pirie. As noted above, the trial will only be conducted from Monday to Friday each week during the trial period to ensure that appropriate resources are available at all times to troubleshoot and respond to any incidents of dust and sulfur dioxide emissions that may be identified during the trial.

01.01.2022 Workshop First Year Apprentices Shine with 5S Improvements The Workshop first year Apprentices have implemented many small but incredibly important 5S improvements this year with guidance from their mentors Gary Curley, Marcus Farrugia & John Stapley. 5S has proven a key in the development of the Apprentices when using the principals with their safety record being a testament to this. Comments have been positive ranging from, having the correct tools in place, able to find ...things easily, eliminates time wasted & the frustration of looking around for equipment. The most noticeable change has been in the pride shown in their work, work areas & the quality of finished products. If you are enjoying what you are doing & you have a well-supported program with the right equipment the environment created can only fast track your development. A big shout out to the Mentors for embracing the principals of 5s & guiding the Apprentices to make a better work place for all to experience. One more improvement to watch out for in 2021 is a new cabinet designed especially for the new Apprentices which will have all the materials, tools & drawings in a booklet format as a one stop shop for their initial hand skills development.
