19.01.2022 At the eleventh hour, on this eleventh day of this eleventh month, 2020, our school paused to commemorate Remembrance Day. Members of our HSIE faculty joined with our student leaders in reminding us of those who have bravely served our country and sacrificed so much so we can live in freedom today. It was a moving time of solemn reflection and we are extremely proud of the respectful manner in which our school community participated in this Remembrance Day Assembly. #lestweforget2020 #remembranceday #oakflatshigh

We connected to Country, heard the dreaming story of the Black Swan, painted artworks and played Indigenous games with Mrs Cantrill. It was a deadly day!

16.01.2022 Year 8 students in Ms Hartley’s Art class are creating artist books that reference the 2019-2020 Australian bushfire season, known as Black Summer. Today students have experimented with mark making for the first layer in their book, using ink and creating their own paint brushes from natural materials from the environment. Students will continue to experiment with a range of mediums such as watercolours, ink, collage and text that will represent the geographical features of the South Coast Region and destruction of the bushfires to the environment and communities.

07.01.2022 On Friday 4th September students and staff are invited to participate in Jersey Day, a fundraiser to raise awareness of The Organ and Tissue Authority and the Donate Life network and begin the conversation about Organ Donation. Students who participate are asked to bring a gold coin donation which will be collected during Roll Call. Students are to wear their normal school uniform underneath their jersey, particularly in case the weather heats up throughout the day and students decide to remove their jerseys. We look forward to seeing lots of jerseys at school on Friday as together we raise awareness for this good cause.
