To 2020 Victorian Year 12s, your families and loved ones, here is our commitment to you: We will help you reach your goals for tertiary study. We will keep you updated on any changes to our policies, dates and procedures for the year. We will provide resources that will help you get the best out of your VTAC application. We will continue to guide your schools, Principals and teachers in giving you the best advice. We will calculate your ATAR so you can be fairly considered for course entry. We will keep you abreast of other pathways into further study its not always about your ATAR! What we ask of you: Keep moving towards your goals. If your studies have been disrupted and we know thats most of you apply for SEAS, our special consideration scheme, when applications open in August. Its a program designed to compensate for educational disadvantage - applying will help you get into a course you want. If youre unsure about your options for further study next year, dont hesitate to contact us, your school careers adviser, or the universities, TAFEs and tertiary institutions that interest you. Stay in contact with your family, friends and loved ones. Keep in mind that there are other pathways into further study, that ATAR is just one method of entry. 10.01.2022 This morning I had the pleasure of heading over to Oakleigh Grammar to chat to their Year 10s, 11s and 12s about all things social media. 200 teenagers...all i...n 1 room...all looking at me. Topics covered included: Social Media and Health (things like screen addiction, self esteem/confidence, trouble sleeping etc) Sexting (yes, I DID go there!) Cyber bulling and the effects of this. What to do if a friend is being bullied online and how to report it. Cyber safety and how to keep yourself safe online. Your Digital Footprint - how what you post online now may affect you in the future. Chatting to teens is certainly very different to chatting to adults and there's one thing I realised....I'm SO glad social media didn't exist when I was younger! There is absolutely no record of the stupid things I did. Don't get me wrong...I wasn't a bad teen but my life wasn't plastered across social media for everyone to see. Things like filters or worrying about how many likes I got on an image didn't matter. Our kids have so much more to deal with these days. A big thanks to Michelle Mascaro and the Oakleigh Grammar teachers for having me.

Hosted by Suzie Wu, a delicious welcome morning tea spread was awaiting us, followed by a presentation of the Diploma tertiary pathways to degrees at Deakin University We also learned about the support services available to international Students, and were shown the outstanding facilities of Deakin College Following a campus tour of Deakin University Burwood Campus, Suzie provided a coffee and chat session for our students where they were able to ask her questions in a group and one to one setting.#seniorschoolcareers #deakincollege #pathways #unilife #internationalstudents #lovemyjob at Oakleigh Grammar
