25.01.2022 "I don't want to get bigger, just better." That's part of the philosophy that drives OBE Organic beef producer Bloss Hickson, who grew up at Melinda Downs north of Cloncurry. Read more on her sustainability actions here: https://bit.ly/2X6isMw

25.01.2022 It is a slightly chillier morning here today in Birdsville. This is the Diamantina River flowing over the old crossing just outside of town. This river flows south towards Kati Thanda Lake Eyre bringing life to the pure heart of Australia.

21.01.2022 "We actually dont consider ourselves isolated! When your days are spent doing what you love and what you feel passionate about your work is very satisfying. 20.01.2022 "We work hard from 6am to 6pm most days but we love it out here. The freedom of living in the Australian Desert, in the open air, with no pollution and no traffic cant be beaten. I wouldnt be anywhere else." Gina Rieck - OBE Organic farmer on Bollards Lagoon Station. "Bollards Lagoon is in the Strzelecki Desert. Its classic desert country with red sand dunes everywhere, but in between the sand dunes is ground that grows plenty of clover in winter and grass in summer. Its untouched land and naturally organic." My parents came here in 1959. There was absolutely nothing here when they arrived. They lived in a tent, then a tin shed, and then a house while they also built fences and dams for cattle. Of course theres still not much around here. We are very remote. Its 500 km to the closest shop!

19.01.2022 The quantity and quality of the native pasture in our production region is very important. It is influenced by the health and fertility of the soil in this area. Taken by organic producer Grant Rieck on Bollards Lagoon - a one million acre property at Cameron Corner the place where the South Australia, Queensland and New South Wales borders meet.

18.01.2022 The Kati-Thanda Lake Eyre Basin is one of largest inland draining systems in the world, the size of Germany, France and Italy combined. It is home to many natural wonders, such as Uluru, and many species of threatened wildlife. For us, this is natures perfect farm for the production of premium beef: safe, healthy, and renowned for infusing unique natural seasonal flavour into every cut of beef. He recently featured in an online campaign where he shared his beautiful surroundings with consumers around the world. He says, "I'm pretty lucky to to be doing what I do. 10.01.2022 Whats your favourite aspect of home-school education? Many farming families in Australia live in very remote locations, many hundreds of kilometres from the closest school. For the teachers living in the country it can be an exciting adventure which can open up a world of opportunities... If you are/or have been part of home-school education we want to hear from you!

09.01.2022 Comfort food is the best food. As we sit down with our families to enjoy a nutritious meal, we think of our farming families across this country who continue to provide us with healthy, fresh produce. @thankful4farmers.

09.01.2022 Happy #WorldEarthDay! The world is facing an unprecedented challenge, but our commitment to protecting the planet hasn't wavered. Our focus is working with producers to reduce net emissions and increase their ability to adapt to a changing climate by improving productivity and where possible looking for ways to store more carbon in vegetation and soils.

08.01.2022 "We are lucky I guess...Weve always bought our groceries from family owned supermarkets and they have no restrictions on how much food we can buy. Our day-to-day lives havent changed much." - Sharon Betts, Epsilon Station (200,000 hectares), in the South-West Corner of Queensland. Learn more about Sharon and Graham Betts here: http://bit.ly/2KhIDdl

06.01.2022 Here's organic cattle producer Grant Rieck, relocating a snake. The Woma Python is widespread throughout arid and semi-arid Australia from coastal Western Australia to western Queensland. In Queensland, the species occurs in the dry subtropics from the Northern Territory border to the Yuleba/Surat/St George area. You can help this species by supporting integrated pest management activities which seek to address feral animal threats (e.g. pigs, cats, foxes). Taken on Bollards Lagoon by Gina Rieck.

06.01.2022 Our Australian farmer-owned #organic #beef business was founded in the early 1990s on co-operative principles to benefit family farmers and we work tirelessly every day on our mission to help people lead better healthier lives. In other ways though, we rely more on nature, in the pure heart of Australia, to run its course.

05.01.2022 In our latest "Meet The Farmer" blog post, The Moloney family share their experiences living and working in outback Australia whilst raising certified organic livestock: "I dont think we really have a typical day! Every day is different and depends on the work program relevant at that time of year. I think rural people are very good at being flexible and the ability to improvise. You can set out with your work program in the morning or that week and then can change in an instant if you come across a water problem, stock out/fences down, break downs, trucking times. " https://loom.ly/8AEd7SA

05.01.2022 This bird is called a Bustard. Yes that's right. It is also commonly known as a "Bush Turkey". They're seen as a good sign in the outback as they seem to disappear in drought times and come back in good seasons.

04.01.2022 White Gums growing next to Narethella Waterhole on organic property Cordillo Downs. At least 5% of this land is maintained to facilitate biodiversity and nature conservation as required by organic standards about 400,000 hectares.

04.01.2022 Some Billy Buttons on Adria Downs Station to brighten your day. Check out the station's history and remote location here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adria_Downs

03.01.2022 It is hard to fathom that up until 1994 Australian #farmingwomen were legally defined as 'silent partners. Female farmers have played a critical and innovative role in Australian agriculture. We support the rural, remote and regional women working hard across Australia to delivery creative and productive industry excellence.

02.01.2022 Flashback to these glorious shots taken in 2011 of water flowing towards Lake Eyre - Kati Thanda. This is OBE Organics heartland. One of the worlds great free-flowing inland river systems. This is an extraordinary natural treasure covering a sixth of the continent, where rivers and creeks flood during northern Australias wet season and flow towards Lake Eyre in the centre of this huge inland drainage basin. For millions of years countless floods have deposited rich nu...trients to create vast, fertile outback floodplains so remote they have been virtually untouched by chemicals for millions of years, and are still hundreds of kilometres from densely populated areas. In this harsh but pristine environment, over 250 species of natural grasses, herbs and succulents grow year-round and flourish when intermittent floodwaters recede. This is natures perfect farm for the production of premium organic beef: safe, healthy, and renowned for infusing unique natural seasonal flavour into every cut of beef.

01.01.2022 Why grass fed? A higher antioxidant content Fat that is more yellow in color indicating higher amounts of carotenoid antioxidants Higher amounts of vitamin E especially when pasture-raised ... Lower amounts of fat A healthier fatty acid profile Higher amounts of ruminant trans fats such as CLA Higher amounts of omega-3 fatty acids Photo taken by Tom Brooks on Cordillo Downs For more info and sources see: https://loom.ly/vOZcdvY
