23.01.2022 There are multiple fires burning between Cooma, Bega and Batemans Bay and a number of these pose a serious threat to life. We urge you to seriously consider if ...you should be in this area tomorrow. There may potentially be new fires burning in these areas that we do not yet know about, which may threaten you without warning. This map displays the predicted fire spread in areas surrounding Greater Sydney for New Years Eve 2019. The map indicates the communities that may come under threat from embers or fire fronts. Other areas surrounding the fire may still come under threat if conditions change or fires break containment lines, such as on the south east edge of the Grose Valley fire (Blue Mountains). Severe fire danger is forecast for this area tomorrow and conditions will be very dangerous due to high temperatures, strong winds and low humidity. A southerly change is expected to pass across these fires tomorrow which will see erratic wind and fire behaviour. It is likely that under these conditions, major roads including the Castlereagh Highway and Hume Highway, may be cut due to fire activity. You should consider this as part of your travel plans.

20.01.2022 JENOLAN CAVES ROAD AT TWO MILE TO RE-OPEN Great to announce Jenolan Caves Road at Two Mile will re-open next week, restoring access to the Jenolan Caves tourist precinct. Jenolan Caves Road was hit hard by floods in March, causing severe damage to the roads and surrounding slopes.... But crews have since been working hard to re-open it and restore access for locals, the communities that live along Jenolan Caves Road, and the tourism operators that rely upon access for visitors. 20.01.2022 IMPORTANT UPDATE: Temporary closure of activities will be extended until 31 January 2020 We are very fortunate to have the support of multiple agencies includin...g; Rural Fire Service, NPWS, NSW Fire and Rescue, NSW Paramedics and even 2 American Firefighters who have been specially deployed to work on the Jenolan fire. At this stage they are using back burning and asset protection strategies to minimise the impacts of the fires. On advice from the IMT we have extended the temporary suspension of all activities, including hotel, caf, restaurant, cave tours, and bush walks up to and including FRIDAY 31 JANUARY, 2020. For your safety, RMS has closed all roads in and out of Jenolan. When conditions are safe, we will resume business as usual. This temporary measure is to ensure the site is safe and ready to re-open to visitors, this will give time for authorities to assess dangerous burnt trees and clear roads etc. before we return. Hello TVCG members, Many of you will be aware that after quite a lengthy shut-down, the Tarana Farmers Market is starting up again ...this coming Sunday, 26th July 2020. Please consider showing your support by coming along 9am to 1pm and please do remember all the current advice about social distancing and handwashing. To show our support and to assist the Tarana RFS, the Tarana Valley Community Group Committee is organising and running the usual RFS bacon and egg roll stall under strict Covid-19 guidelines - with all proceeds going to our wonderful RFS brigade. If anyone has an hour or two to spare on the day (from 8am set-up to 1pm pack away), the TVCG Committee would welcome any offers of assistance at the BBQ stall to make things just that little bit easier with so many months having gone by without tasting the world famous in Tarana B & E roll we expect there to be a big demand for the BBQ fare!
