15.01.2022 Searching for female ancestors is made difficult because tradition expected women to change their surname after marriage. In providing our surname free search the female ancestor is listed in the database under both surnames whenever possible. This one small innovation can be the difference in finding the story of an ancestor! Sometimes women remarried and this added another level of complexity, in these cases, our database lists the female ancestor under all relevant surnames. It is always worth checking any surname pertaining to the family, it could just provide the clue you need. Please note our online database is just a sample to show what we may be able to locate for your ancestor, for specific searches on your ancestors please email us at: [email protected]

14.01.2022 Spring is a fantastic time of year. The sun is shining and warmer weather has arrived here in Australia, with the promise of rain just around the corner. It's always a great season to begin, or continue your family history research. So many more records are becoming available to view on your computer at home, or at your local library. Did you know that the Western Downs Regional Council provide computers and access to Ancestry.com in their libraries? Queensland Births, Deaths... & Marriages index is even more user-friendly since their major update earlier this year. And of course, Trove, an initiative of the National Library of Australia, is an amazing resource for digitised newspapers. Files are added daily to the free surname search on the website homepage www.obituaryresearchservice.com.au and if your ancestor name is not there, contact us for a dedicated search, email: [email protected] See more
