I will be posting more information in the few weeks. I am hoping some of the restrictions for sports are going to be lifted further and if so they may make a difference to how i structure the class going forward. So whilst I want to let you know how class we be made up, I don't want to g...ive you that info now and have it change in the next few weeks.. So ion short classes WILL resume in term 3, But Keep your eye out on email and on this site for how they will be structured.. Jason

22.01.2022 Dont forget, tuesday classes start tomorrow night. You should have had an email sent to you with details if not let me know..

18.01.2022 Whilst we may still be a few weeks off face to face classes, we do have a plan based on what we believe will be the requirements going forward.. More details to follow.

17.01.2022 For students wanting a bit of extra training, Here is Master Conduit Nicholas, running a few session that you can join into..

17.01.2022 Jason was presented his 6th Dan in Karate-do from the Dai Nippon Butoku Kai’s (DBNK) Australian representative Kyoshi Kevin Walsh today, during an official presentation ceremony at our club in Castlemaine. The Dai Nippon Butoku Kai was originally established in 1895 Kyoto Japan under the authority of the Japanese Government and the endorsement of His Majesty, Meiji Emperor to solidify, promote, and standardize martial disciplines and systems throughout Japan. It aimed for the preservation of traditional Budo and the nobility associated with Samurai culture. In 1992 the DNBK International Division was officially established to organize, direct and coordinate all martial arts activities of Dai Nippon Butoku Kai in the international community outside Japan.

15.01.2022 All, I have been following (as I am sure a lot of you will have been) the COVID-19 (corona-virus) measures that are being put in place in workplaces, Public Spaces and other areas including various sporting activities Based on the fact our training is based on school terms, I have decided that if/when schools are closed we will follow suit.... Until this happens we will train as per normal with the following modifications All student to student and/or student to Instructor contact needs to minimised, as such we will not be, Sparring, Working with pads, doing any grappling or self-defence activities in our regular classes. Students are asked to ensure that they have washed their hands, equipment and Uniforms adequately prior to attending training Any student experiencing signs of a cold or flu, or who are in contact with others who are, are requested not to train, until these symptoms have passed. The common symptoms of COVID-19 are high temperature, runny nose, sore throat, dry cough and shortness of breath. You must also follow any additional measure that you feel are appropriate and if this means you do not wish to attend training then that is a measure you need to follow. If/when things change I will let you know However in the meantime If you gave any questions please ask.

15.01.2022 With the change in Covid Restrictions, I have amended some of the adult class times, to bring the sizes up to a MAX of 20. I have email all those affected, so Please check your emails. We also now get to do contact work now as well.. Get ready for some bag work!!

15.01.2022 Just letting you all know that I am cancelling classes next week. The following two weeks are school holidays and we don’t have training during that time. In terms of when we return. We will return in Term 2 PROVIDING schools are operating. So a this stage we will return on Tuesday the 14th of April... If schools are closed due to state or federal Government mandate then we will remain closed for the same period. I will keep you all updated via email and this page Thanks Jason

14.01.2022 Emails detailing class times and days during the current restrictions has now been sent out.. If you did not receive one and you wish to resume training for the remainder of the year let me know! THANKS"

14.01.2022 I have had a few enquiries about classes tomorrow.. At this current stage of restrictions we cannot return to face to face classes at St Marys. A few days after I posted my last update I realised I had jumped the gun BUT thought that by now we would be in a better Position. If my reading of the rules are correct the next stage will allow us to return. Although I suspect with similar restrictions as last time. I hope to have better news about our return soon'!

13.01.2022 Hello OBK students, I hope you are all remaining well. I have recently sent an email out regarding the possibility of running some classes Via Video chat. I have had a reasonable amount of interest, so it looks like it will go ahead.... If you have not seen the email check you spam folder or contact me via Direct message and I will check I have sent it to the correct email address My concern is with using Video and remote type classes is regarding privacy, both mine and my students, as such all classes will require preregistration and access via a dedicated access account, which will be sent out on registration of the class. I am still working though how this will actually work, but once I do I will let everyone know So please check your email and if this is something that you are interested in let me know. I will be offering two free session to test out the way it all work, and then I will charge $5 per session, having said that if you are interested in attending and but due the current Situation you are not able to afford that then let me know Privately, we can work something out!

13.01.2022 the 2020 start of year newsletter has just been emailed out.. If you did not get a copy you can access it here.. https://mailchi.mp/55/welcome-to-2020-training-resumes-soon

12.01.2022 In line with the current Victorian Covid Restrictions, students and visitors are currently required to wear a face mask unless exempt under the DHHS regulations I will try to modify classes to accommodate masks, with regards to weather conditions etc. This may mean less high cardio activities on warm days. If anyone has any questions feel free to contact me for clarification

11.01.2022 As predicted, things have already changed in terms of returning to sport.. it look like when we return in term three, all of our junior classes can resume as normal, at this stage we will need to change our seniors classes, but this may also change, so i will provde an update in a few more weeks time, before we resume in term 3..

11.01.2022 All, this is a personal message to all my students and their families, With the increase of measures by state and commonwealth governments, I know some of you will be undergoing various forms of hardship and Isolation. There are various professional online and Phone support services, who I would recommend you use if you feel the need. Having said that If you are felling a little isolated and Just need a chat, or perhaps you just need a friendly face to talk to, or even some a...ssistance in at home training, let me know, and I will do my best to help. At OBK I like to think of us as one big family, and whilst social distancing and lockdowns may restrict us from physically training together, I would like to think we can still be there for each other if the need arises Thanks, Look after yourselves and your families and stay safe Jason

09.01.2022 Leanne has just received her 6th Dan and Kyoshi title in Jujutsu from the Dai Nippon Butoku Kai (DNBK) in Japan. Leanne is is the only female in Australia to ha...ve attained the title of Kyoshi from DNBK. Leanne was recommended for the title by the President of DNBK after she participated in an intense two week elite seminar which studied four different classical Jujutsu styles in Japan and demonstrated in front of DNBK Honbu instructors many times over the past 15 years. Leanne is a role model for girls and women of all ages as she began her training as a young teenager through motherhood and beyond. We are very grateful for her continued input. We also have certifications for Jason Gray and Damian Wilson. Jason has achieved his 6th Dan in Karatedo and runs his Karate dojo in Castlemaine. Damian has achieved his Shodan in Karatedo and teaches at his Karate dojo in Abbotsford. Damian is also a member of our CMAC dojo. We will hold an official presentation ceremony at our annual Kagami Biraki (dojo opening) on Sunday 10th January.

08.01.2022 For all of those who are wondering, Classes will run tomorrow night as per normal... Although, due to new restrict this Tuesday will be our last class until further notice. ... 06.01.2022 Good News.. We are back as on next Month. Due to the public holiday on the 3rd of November our first day back in the hall will be 10th, and we will run until the 15th of December I am still restricted to inside classes for Under 18’s only so I do need to modify the standard classes days and times, to make it work... Students under 18.. Tuesdays will your day and classes will be in the hall. So no adult’s classes on Tuesdays and no junior classes on Thursday. Students over 18.. Thursdays I will be running classes in the Park for this age group and as I will be restricted to 10 students per class, I will probably run multiple class times and as has been suggested I may try and run two classes simultaneously in separate parts of the park with different instructors, and doing a round robin style class I still need to work out the logistics of both Scenarios, and will send emails to each students detailing the class time and date that I need to put you into!.
