21.01.2022 ***Why I like Kessil lighting*** I've been using Kessil LED lighting on my Evolution Aqua Aquascaper 1200 aquarium for almost a year now. Pictured is the Kessil... A360we Tuna Sun. It's designed for freshwater aquariums and is ideal for growing aquatic plants. It may take a while to get used to the type of light it produces because it is highly concentrated from a dense matrix LED, making it point source. The results of this are very strong glitter lines and lots of contrast between light and shade in the aquascape. The shadows from the refracted light project onto my back wall and ceiling, creating a dynamic and natural atmosphere. The A360 units are very powerful at 90 watts maximum. The A160 and A80 units are less powerful and suitable for smaller aquariums. They are all adjustable in terms of intensity and colour temperature. This can be done manually via two dials on the units or by the Kessil Spectral Controller. This can be used to set the photoperiod and to allow ramping the intensity and colour, as required. The intensity can be adjusted from 5% up to 100% and I currently run my Aquascaper 1200 on 50% (two units). The colour temperature is adjustable from 0% (6000K) to 100% (9000K). 6000K is more yellow. 9000K is more blue. My Aquascaper 1200 is set to 50% (7500K). I used many types of lighting over the years - fluorescent T8, T5, PC T5, metal halide, and dozens of LED units. I prefer to have my lighting suspended above an open-top aquarium and the Kessils in combination with the new Lighting Hanging Kit from Evolution Aqua are the best lighting solution I experienced so far in terms of both plant growth and overall aesthetics.
