24.01.2022 OK, thats it folks. I think I have found my favourite NSW ocean pool of all: Merewether Baths; just a magical place. Just a handful more real ocean pools left further north. Surely none can match Merewether? http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au/merewether-ocean-baths-merewet/

24.01.2022 Finally made it to Figure of Eight Pool in the Royal National Park. Most gruelling walk I have done in a while - or am I just getting older? But what a fantastic spot for a dip. Low tide only, though. http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au/figure-eight-pool-royal-nation/

24.01.2022 Gunnamatta Bay Baths down near Cronulla has the friendliest crowd of swimmers Ive come across in a while. Lovely 50m area, with lane ropes if the club are doing their thing, but also a big area beyond that where theres a net to keep you feeling on the safe side of things... http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au/gunnamatta-bay-baths-cronulla-/

23.01.2022 The most southerly rock pool in NSW is Aslings Beach Rock Pool in Eden on the Sapphire Coast. We had the pool to ourselves, though about a hundred black crabs looked on from the sides as we did our laps. Great spot. Well be back for sure. http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au/aslings-beach-rock-pool-eden-n/

23.01.2022 Not sure Tuncurry Rockpool really counts as an ocean pool, but it is in ocean water, and there is a net, though it wasnt designed to keep sharks out...Lovely swimming with fish so close by. Water was still warm when I got there in mid-June. http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au/tuncurry-rockpool-tuncurry-nsw/

21.01.2022 It was the 80+ sea gulls blocking the way into the water that put me off actually having a dip in the Cockatoo Island swimming enclosure, though the No Swimming sign didnt exactly encourage it either. If youve ever been swooped by nest-protecting gulls, youll sympathise. Love to hear from anyone who has been in the water here http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au/causeway-baths-cockatoo-island/

18.01.2022 Killcare Rock Pool is formed by a ring of stones at the southern end of the beautiful Putty Beach on the NSW Central Coast. Only really good for swimming at high tide, and I didnt quite make it in time. Had a lovely few minutes splashing about in the waves, though. http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au/killcare-rock-pool-putty-beach/

18.01.2022 Back in the ocean water at last after almost two months. Sandringham on Botany Bay was my venue for a quick dip on a warm day, but with water temperature making me wish I hadnt left m swim cap at home. Good to be back in the salty water, though http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au/sandringham-baths-aka-vanston-/

18.01.2022 We loved Oatley Park anyway, with all its winding paths, amazing rock formations and wild bushland, but then the baths in Jewfish Bay appear, with the extraordinary leaping fish and the 300m shark net, making this an extraordinary place to swim - just get here on the right tide! http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au/oatley-park-baths-jewfish-bay-/

16.01.2022 Ill be doing a few ABC radio interviews tomorrow to promote my oceanpoolsnsw website and talk about finishing my quest to swim in all of the states ocean baths and netted enclosures. Timings should be 6.45am ABC Illawarra, 10.30am ABC Newcastle & 2.30pm ABC Sydney. Might be opportunity to phone in if you have stories to share...

16.01.2022 Kurnell Baths are not strictly speaking ocean pools or harbour baths but this big netted swimming enclosure was beautiful and qualifies for my website in my book. At about 200m between the two stone walls, you dont need to do many laps to keep fit. Great view of planes taking off from Sydney Airport too. http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au/kurnell-baths-silver-beach-kur/

16.01.2022 Fancy doing a bit of plane-spotting while you swim? Kyeemagh Baths might just be the place, but make sure you pick the right tide, the right weather, the right wind, oh and avoid those stingrays. Well, I loved it last week when I took the plunge finally http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au/kyeemagh-baths-kyeemagh-nsw/

15.01.2022 Edens oldest rock pool way down south on NSW Sapphire Coast. Largely disused now but still very much intact. Found thanks to local lad Rob, who swam here as a child. This is Thompsons Point Baths on Snug Cove http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au/thompsons-point-baths-eden-nsw/

15.01.2022 Yamba, in northern NSW, had one of my favourite pools in the state. Getting near the end of this quest and its always good to keep the best to last. So glad we managed two dips in this great rock pool http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au/yamba-rock-pool-yamba-nsw/

14.01.2022 Well at least I didnt see a shark in Parsley Bay baths (others have...). Beautiful spot on Sydney Harbour but not my most relaxing dip so far http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au/parsley-bay-tidal-baths-parsle/

13.01.2022 Gymea Bay Baths - in a beautiful setting with exotic birdlife and big, tall gums, but choose your day well to get clean water for a swim... http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au/gymea-bay-baths-gymea-nsw-2227/

13.01.2022 Gunnamatta Bay Baths pics

12.01.2022 Ive never seen anyone else swimming in Carss Point Baths. Once upon a time it was a popular outdoor swimming spot in Sydneys south, but oyster shells, water quality reports and even shark warnings made it less appealing http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au/carss-point-baths-carss-park-n/

12.01.2022 Not sure Tuncurry Rockpool really counts as an 'ocean pool', but it is in ocean water, and there is a net, though it wasn't designed to keep sharks out...Lovely swimming with fish so close by. Water was still warm when I got there in mid-June. http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au/tuncurry-rockpool-tuncurry-nsw/

10.01.2022 My last swim before a bit of a winter break. Little Street Baths in Forster did not have the joy of the ocean pool less than a mile away and I wasnt too sure about the shark net either. Not many pools left before my quest is complete but Ill be sticking to aquatic centres now till September... http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au/little-street-baths-forster-ns/

10.01.2022 Greenwich Baths. Best views of Sydneys CBD from a harbour swimming enclosure? Cloudy day for my visit but still delicious swim http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au/greenwich-baths-greenwich-nsw/

10.01.2022 Forster Ocean Baths were a great find up on the NSW north coast. Well worth the long drive up beyond Newcastle. I would have stayed in longer if my wayward backstroke had not sent me clattering against a barnacle-covered pool wall...http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au/forster-ocean-baths-forster-ns/

09.01.2022 Lilli Pilli Baths on Port Hacking were a real delight at the end of a hot day. We didnt get the best tide or even have bright sunshine, but a really lovely spot. Clear waters but no sea horse sightings this time http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au/lilli-pilli-baths-lilli-pilli-/

08.01.2022 Almost 200 years ago the Newcastle Bogey Hole was built by convict labourers. They did a good job, I say. What a great spot, if you can get in that is. Dont know how they managed to build it... http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au/newcastle-bogey-hole-newcastle/ Pics in the gallery in the link.

08.01.2022 Probably not my favourite swimming enclosure on this pools quest, but had to be done, even if only for a couple of minutes. Anyone swim regularly at Oatley Bay Baths and want to invite me back to join them?? http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au/oatley-bay-baths-oatley-nsw/

08.01.2022 I'll be doing a few ABC radio interviews tomorrow to promote my oceanpoolsnsw website and talk about finishing my quest to swim in all of the state's ocean baths and netted enclosures. Timings should be 6.45am ABC Illawarra, 10.30am ABC Newcastle & 2.30pm ABC Sydney. Might be opportunity to phone in if you have stories to share...

08.01.2022 What a wonderful place Clifton Gardens Baths must have been when they first built the swimming enclosure in 1906. Bit quieter now. Lots of big fish in the water (not me by the way...), though I didnt get to see any sea horses. http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au/clifton-gardens-baths-chowder-/

08.01.2022 Ive seen Como Tidal Baths from the train every time I go into Sydney. At the end of last month, I finally took the plunge myself. Beautiful spot, though not sure about the water on the day I was in... http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au/como-tidal-baths-como-nsw/

08.01.2022 Swimming in Chiswick Baths on the Parramatta River was a bit different from the Chiswick Pool in SW London where I first learnt to swim front crawl. Best at high tide again. http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au/chiswick-baths-chiswick-nsw/

06.01.2022 Lucretia Baths has quite a history, with its special sort of shark protection, its famous neighbours in days gone by, and its views of the Harbour Bridge (though not for the first 15 years or so of its existence). Great spot for a secluded dip http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au/lucretia-baths-woodford-bay-lo/

06.01.2022 Paradise Beach is on the Pittwater side of Avalon on Sydneys northern beaches. The swimming enclosure here was a lovely spot for a dip on a hot day. Just lacking toilets, shower, changing room, caf... http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au/paradise-beach-baths-nsw/

06.01.2022 At least half my readers wont ever see the inside of McIvers Baths in Coogee. I didnt either, but I sent in a spy who kindly did a guest blog for me for Sydneys women-only rock pool http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au/mcivers-baths-coogee-nsw-2034/

06.01.2022 I finally got to Bronte Bogey Hole on the right tide for a swim earlier this summer. Pretty damn nice, though Id probably still opt for the rock pool next time Im back at Bronte. http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au/bronte-bogey-hole-bronte-nsw-2/

06.01.2022 My most northerly swim yet (in NSW anyway). Black Head Ocean Baths were fabulous and it was great to meet a local lady with family connections going back to the birth of this pool during WW2. Dolphins swimming nearby too. http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au/black-head-ocean-baths/

05.01.2022 I've never seen anyone else swimming in Carss Point Baths. Once upon a time it was a popular outdoor swimming spot in Sydney's south, but oyster shells, water quality reports and even shark warnings made it less appealing http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au/carss-point-baths-carss-park-n/

04.01.2022 Little Bay Rock Pool barely counts as a rock pool in the NSW sense of the term, but it is still there as a ring of stones, put in place for nurses at the local fever hospital so they could have a shark-free swim to cool off. I just had to keep an eye open for blue ringed octopus instead... http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au/little-bay-rock-pool-little-ba/

04.01.2022 Well at least I didn't see a shark in Parsley Bay baths (others have...). Beautiful spot on Sydney Harbour but not my most relaxing dip so far http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au/parsley-bay-tidal-baths-parsle/

03.01.2022 The beautiful Coomba Park Tidal Pool is latest entry on the website. Such a calm place for a dip, unless you count the cackling kookaburras, the swooping swallows, the purring pelicans, or the juicy jellyfish. http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au/coomba-park-tidal-pool-nsw-2428/

02.01.2022 Weather a bit overcast for our visit to Sawtell Rock Pool near Coffs Harbour in northern NSW. My pics dont do justice to the place but its hard to make water exciting with cloudy skies. Lovely swim though we didnt see the big fish... http://oceanpoolsnsw.net.au/sawtell-memorial-pool-sawtell-/
