25.01.2022 Some things will be different. A message from our Director General

24.01.2022 The children (and staff!!) have enjoyed watching the chicks and ducklings hatching this week.

24.01.2022 Checking in with all our O'Connor Cooperative School Community and beyond. Attached is a useful resource with strategies to support families through the bushfire tragedy. Whilst some of us may not be directly affected, seeing such sadness for so many other people and animals can have a significant impact. Please reach out if you need any support. Stay safe everyone. Take care. Jenny ... https://beyou.edu.au//impact-of-natural-disasters-on-menta See more

23.01.2022 It was so exciting to see the smiling faces of our students as they returned to school today. We are off to a great start with badges for the children, Nathan sharing the United Nations Convention on the 'Rights of the Child', a visit from our STEM Superstar Dr Verity Normington, sharing her Geological expertise with the children and a wet weather dance festival at recess. 22.01.2022 Join us in making history! We’re calling on the Canberra school community to participate in our journal writing project, Moments in Time. Through the project we hope to capture students’ and families' experiences during this pivotal stage in history. Student voice is a key foundation of the Future of Education Strategy and Director-General, Katy Haire is encouraging you to record your observations, feelings and experiences through this collaborative project. For the next ten ...weeks, Katy will provide a writing prompt to respond to, and the first week's theme of Change is currently live on our page. Here you can read and listen to the featured journal entry from the Director-General herself as well as a local Canberra school teacher. Your words will be greatly appreciated and valued by ACT Education and provide insight for current and future Canberrans. Happy journaling! http://ow.ly/msTm50zsF96

The e-Safety Commissioner website is an Australian government website that provides many resources to support parents and carers to keep their family safe online. Click on the link below and have a look at the resources they currently have available.

15.01.2022 You will read in the media this morning that the ACT Education Directorate has developed a plan to transition back to face to face teaching. We will be emailing a letter home to all families regarding the details of this plan. Formal notification of the transition will include details of when students will return, using the Directorate’s staggered approach. Until students are back to face to face teaching, online learning will continue. We will email this information as soon as it becomes available. Thanks to all families for their support in ensuring high quality learning can continue during this unprecedented time.

14.01.2022 Lots of fun ideas here.

14.01.2022 The Education Directorate has been working with ACT Health to provide advice to staff and the school community about the recent outbreak of novel coronavirus. A...CT Public Schools will always prioritise the safety of staff and students and act on expert advice from health professionals. We believe that every day of learning matters for every child, and that students should attend school wherever possible. Current advice from the ACT Chief Health Officer is that students should attend school as normal unless they have close contact with a person with a confirmed case of novel coronavirus, or they have returned from the Hubei Province in China within the last 14 days. Students and families who have visited mainland China, other than the Hubei Provence, can attend school from day one next week. Any students from the Hubei Province who are due to attend ACT Public Schools in 2020 will be subject to a 14-day period of isolation at home. This is temporary exclusion for medical reasons. We wish to acknowledge that this is a challenging situation for many, and especially the Chinese Australian community, who are valued members of our school communities. For further information you can find the ACT Health factsheet 'Information for parents of children in schools or childcare - 30 January 2020' at https://bit.ly/3aSQgkF.

13.01.2022 ANZAC Day 2020. The year we remember from our Driveways at Dawn. Perhaps this year having a little more understanding of freedom and gratitude. At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, We Will Remember Them.

13.01.2022 Not long to go now. We are all getting excited to begin another school year. Preschool and kindergarten classes commence on Monday 3 Feb. Year 1 and 2 return on Tuesday 4 Feb. We have vacancies in each of our K-2 classes.

13.01.2022 Today is National Sorry Day - a day to remember the Stolen Generations and mistreatment of the country's Indigenous peoples, as part of an ongoing process of reconciliation between Indigenous peoples and the non-Indigenous population. Our children listened to the Sorry Day Story by Coral Vass and Dub Leffler and respectfully discussed what it means to be Sorry and how they can be a voice in Reconciliation. We encourage all Australians to reflect on the devastating long term impact of forcibly removing Indigenous children from their parents, communities and Country.

13.01.2022 We are looking forward to welcoming our students back to school for term 3 and hearing what you have all been up to. See you at the gates at 9.00am on Monday.

We love our school.

05.01.2022 Our students create beautiful artworks. Just another day at The Coop.

05.01.2022 We are all excited to know we will soon be together again at The CoOp. The classrooms are set up a little differently but the care and connections we share are the same. Remember that everyone is here to help and it is ok to feel the way you feel about school returning - excited, nervous, happy, worried. We will focus on being kind to each other as well as our values of being safe, respectful, responsible, learners. There is always someone to talk to! Have a lovely weekend and see you Monday.
