25.01.2022 Note to your calendars : The 2021 Wandiligong Nut Festival will be on the Saturday 24th April 2021 from 9am to 4pm.

22.01.2022 A little more autumn colour on what would have been the first weekend of the Bright Autumn Festival in better times.

20.01.2022 Self-isolating isn't all bad when you get beautiful views like this in your own backyard.

19.01.2022 Well worth having a wander around Porepunkah with the stunning reds that can be seen around the town centre.

18.01.2022 Sorry but it has been a long time since we have posted but as many of you will be aware, it has been a tumultuous summer for the region but thankfully all the towns are fine and getting back to normal business. We are extremely grateful to all the services that contributed to the firefighting efforts - CFA, DWELP, SES, Forest Fire Management, Victoria Police etc. And to all the other agencies that are assisting with the region to recover from the social and economic impacts o...f the bushfires. Your support of events like this will be an important part of that recovery. There are lots of little signs that summer is drawing to a conclusion and that autumn is only days away. So we will be posting more regularly to keep you informed of activities and events happening as part of the Bright Autumn Festival as well as showcasing some of the beautiful colours and seasonal produce. The photo is from earlier this week of some trees in Porepunkah making an early transition to autumn. Some of the little signs of the approaching change of seasons.

15.01.2022 It is with regret that we have to announce that this year's Bright Autumn Festival has been cancelled. Here is our Press Release advising of the cancellation: BRIGHT AUTUMN FESTIVAL CANCELLED FOR 2021... BRIGHT, VICTORIA (3 February 2021) The Bright Autumn Festival has announced the cancellation of the event for 2021. The Bright Autumn Festival was established in 1962 and was one of the oldest continuously running festivals in Australia before the global coronavirus pandemic hit, forcing its cancellation last year. The decision to cancel the event for the second year running certainly wasn’t taken lightly, says Bright Autumn Festival president Brendan Holland. The committee gave great consideration to the current coronavirus climate, government restrictions and all the moving parts that come with the pandemic before voting unanimously to sit out this year. It simply wasn’t feasible to host our much-loved Gala Day Parade that sees community floats flood the streets of central Bright under the current tier one event guidelines from the Victorian government. While the Festival itself will not be taking place in a formal capacity, other associated events such as the Wandi Nut Festival and the Rotary Markets will still be proceeding. Autumn is still the most picturesque time to visit beautiful Bright, says Holland. The trees will still be changing colour, the weather is perfect and restaurants, cafes and wineries are all welcoming people back. We would encourage both new and regular visitors to Bright to join us in enjoying the spectacular autumns colours and unique hospitality that only the Alpine region can offer. We will continue to provide updates including pictures and videos of the changing of the colours on our social media accounts. We can be found on Instagram @brightautumnfestival and on Facebook @officialbrightautumnfestival.

15.01.2022 A little autumn colour to brighten a dreary day in Bright. The Back Porepunkah Road last week.

14.01.2022 Only been autumn for a few weeks but there is already some brilliant splashes of colour around town.

13.01.2022 A bit of autumn colour from the region over the last few days. Plenty of spectacular colours around now and too few to enjoy it. Hopefully 2021 will be better.

11.01.2022 Lest we forget Here some photos from the 2018 and 2019 Anzac Day Services in Bright. All photos are from 2018 and 2019. Due to Covid-19 pandemic, this year ceremony has been cancelled following government advices.

10.01.2022 The Wandi Nut Festival is happening this Saturday. It is a ticketed event, so head over to their website to secure your tickets.

08.01.2022 MEDIA RELEASE BRIGHT AUTUMN FESTIVAL CANCELS GALA DAY PARADE FOLLOWING GOVERNMENT ADVICE BRIGHT, VICTORIA (17 March 2020) The Bright Autumn Festival had decided to cancel the Gala Day Parade after the Federal Government placed a ban on non-essential gatherings of more than 500 people to combat the spread of COVID-19.... Prime Minister Scott Morrison made the announcement on Friday following advice from chief medical officer Brendan Murphy. With the ban on mass gatherings of 500+ people, the Bright Autumn Festival has decided to cancel the Gala Day Parade. In the current environment, there is no other option, says Bright Autumn Festival president Brendan Holland. The Bright Autumn Festival has many events and activities that attract less than 500 people, so we are currently exploring the option for a scaled down festival. Those events and activities are organised by a variety of local groups and businesses and the Bright Autumn Festival coordinates that information to produce a program. We are currently contacting those event organisers to find out if they intend to proceed with their event. Once we have that information, we will decide if a smaller scale festival is feasible. This is obviously subject to change if government directions on how to manage the COVID-19 pandemic changes. The move follows the cancellation of other major events around the country including the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix. Spectators for cricket games have been banned with the AFL and NRL working on contingencies plans for their respective seasons. The Bright Autumn Festival was established in 1962 and has run continuously for the past 59 years. It is one of the longest continuously running festivals in Australia.
