19.01.2022 Right now the waters are very brown from the inflow of all the storm water plus there is a large amount of debris on the surface. This is making boating hazardous. Hopefully it will clear up in a few days and be back to pristine again.Right now the waters are very brown from the inflow of all the storm water plus there is a large amount of debris on the surface. 18.01.2022 Sea story! The passenger steamer SS Warrimoo was quietly knifing its way through the waters of the mid-Pacific on its way from Vancouver to Australia. The navigator had just finished working out a star fix and brought Captain John DS. Phillips, the result. The Warrimoo's position was LAT 0 31' N and LONG 179 30' W. The date was 31 December 1899. "Know what this means?" First Mate Payton broke in, "We're only a few miles from the intersection of the Equator and the Internatio...nal Date Line". Captain Phillips was prankish enough to take full advantage of the opportunity for achieving the navigational freak of a lifetime. He called his navigators to the bridge to check & double check the ship's position. He changed course slightly so as to bear directly on his mark. Then he adjusted the engine speed. The calm weather & clear night worked in his favor. At mid-night the SS Warrimoo lay on the Equator at exactly the point where it crossed the International Date Line! The consequences of this bizarre position were many: The forward part (bow) of the ship was in the Southern Hemisphere & in the middle of summer. The rear (stern) was in the Northern Hemisphere & in the middle of winter. The date in the aft part of the ship was 31 December 1899. In the bow (forward) part it was 1 January 1900. This ship was therefore not only in: Two different days, Two different months, Two different years, Two different seasons But in two different centuries - all at the same time! See more

12.01.2022 The Australian Government today restricted the social separation outdoors to just 1 person per 4 square metres. We are not able to provide this separation on RU4 REEL. Therefore we have no choice but to stop all charters until further notice. The Australian Government today restricted the social separation outdoors to just 1 person per 4 square metres. 08.01.2022 76mm Rain on the coast today so it appears the big drought might just be over. Huge seas with powerful winds are buffeting our coastline. Huge tides expected tonight and over the weekend. Consequently we will not be leaving our berth for the next 48 hours or until conditions improve.76mm Rain on the coast today so it appears the big drought might just be over. 07.01.2022 Winter has ended and we are experiencing unusually hot and windy spring weather. Temps are in the low 30Cs and most days are windy. There have only been a small number of Marlin and Mahi Mahi caught so far this season but we are expecting the fishery to begin firing in December with the arrival of the warmer waters from the north. The table fish are plentiful and great fun to catch. The close reefs are really producing the goods and there some big Mulloway being caught in the... estuary. The kingies are about and true to their reputation fighting hard and dirty with the occasional 1 metre fish being boated. We are being booked for trips in December and January now. So if you are thinking of chartering us for your Christmas vacation now is the time to do it or you will miss out on your Australian fishing trip.

06.01.2022 # DID YOU KNOW: When whole shark is sold at the market auctions it is sold trunked - That being with the head off and the tail removed. More importantly any sha...rk trunk that cannot fit into those standard blue plastic fish crates cannot be sold at market and/or is confiscated if found at auction. The reason..? Mercury poisoning... Mercury is an a cumulative poison which is found in higher levels as it works its way up the food chain. Because your average shark sits at the top of the food chain they therefore have the highest mercury contamination concentrations of any fish species. Back in the 80s is was discovered that sharks with trunks larger than your average fish crate contained mercury levels that were so high that they were deemed to be unsafe for human consumption - Hence the introduction of the trunk/crate size rule at the markets. This is well worth considering the next time you catch a sizable shark and are thinking about taking it home as a good sized feed..
