25.01.2022 Protecting the oil and gas sector from insider threats AUSTRALIA’S oil and gas industry is central to the nation’s economic growth and accounts for $34.5 billion of annual income. Its ability to handle this incredible demand hinges on taking advantage of new automation technologies to aid with discovery, extraction and processing through to delivery. At the same time, increased real-time business interactions between upstream and downstream companies are resulting in increas...ed connectivity between operational technology (OT) and IT networks exposes once-isolated OT systems to cyberattacks and makes organisations more susceptible to threats. However, not all threats are external. Some of these dangers come from within the organisation. Understanding insider threats Insider threats are users with legitimate access to an organisation’s network and resources, who use their privilege to accidentally or intentionally harm the organisation. These users can be employees, partners or contractors, both past and present. Read more at: https://www.oilandgasaustralia.com.au/protecting-the-oil-a/

22.01.2022 Asia Pacific’s oil demand to fall in 2020 but could rise 25% by 2040 ACCORDING to a new report by Wood Mackenzie, oil products demand in Asia Pacific is expected to fall by 1.8 million barrels per day (b/d) year-on-year in 2020. But oil demand growth in Asia has still a long way to run. By 2040, the region’s oil demand is expected to rise by 25% (9 million b/d) to 44.8 million b/d compared to 2019. Covid-19 and a pessimistic economic outlook will have a near-term impact on o...il demand and the refining sector in Asia Pacific. But in the long-run, demand continues to be robust driven by a future demand for mobility and petrochemicals. The region will account for over half of global oil demand growth by 2040. Although demand continues to grow, the rate of growth in the next 20 years is less than half that of the past 20 years, primarily because of higher fuel efficiency, penetration of electric vehicles and displacement of oil in the transport sector, Wood Mackenzie research director Sushant Gupta said. 22.01.2022 How Australian oil and gas companies can build resilience in uncertain times By Christophe Bourdeau from Accenture Australia and New Zealand’s Resources practice. THERE is no doubt 2020 will be a year to remember for the oil and gas industry, thanks to the dual threat of supply side disruptions and the widespread demand shock caused by COVID-19.... In Australia, the sector has seen hundreds of job cuts; and planned spending on major transformation projects has been halted. However, in its June 2020 Oil Market Report, the International Energy Agency (IEA) revised its oil forecasts it now expects demand to be 500,000 barrels per day more than it predicted in May. This modest improvement is somewhat offset by the ongoing loss within the aviation industry, with the IEA warning demand levels for oil are unlikely to return to pre-COVID levels for at least another 18 months. It can be difficult, therefore, to see 2020 as a time of opportunity. Read more at: https://www.oilandgasaustralia.com.au/how-australian-oil-a/

The volumes are estimated to be in the range of 6.3 19.0 million standard cubic meters (MSm3) of recoverable oil equivalent, or 40 120 million barrels of oil equivalent (boe).... In addition, the Dugong discovery has significantly de-risked another prospect in the licence estimated by Neptune at 5.2 million standard cubic meters (MSm3) of recoverable oil equivalent, or 33 million boe. This brings Neptune’s estimate of the total resource potential in PL882 to as much as 153 million boe. Neptune Energy is the operator of the Dugong licence with a 40% ownership interest. Neptune Energy’s Managing Director in Norway, Odin Estensen, said this is a significant discovery and strategically important for Neptune Energy in this region. 21.01.2022 Wood Mac says up to 40% of spare capacity will available at North West Shelf by 2027 LEADING international energy analyst Wood Mackenzie’s latest report shows that the North West Shelf (LNG project could have up to seven million tonnes per annum (mmpta) of spare capacity available by 2027. This equates to 40% of the project’s nominal capacity. Wood Mackenzie senior analyst Daniel Toleman said the Woodside-operated five-train NWS facility has been producing LNG since 1989. N...ext year production capacity becomes available for the first time. Decisions on how to fill this gap need to be made now, not only because time is running out, but also because the joint venture is breaking-up. Chevron is running a process to sell out of the NWS, and we see other majors likely to follow, Mr Toleman said. Read more at: https://www.oilandgasaustralia.com.au/wood-mac-says-up-to-/

Under the April OPEC+ agreement, that restraint was due to ease to a 5.8 million b/d cut on 1 January 2021. Read more at: https://www.oilandgasaustralia.com.au/opec-agrees-to-incre/
12.01.2022 As politicians bicker, WoodMac says Australia’s energy and natural resources exports to China are booming Despite increasing rhetoric, mutual benefit should ensure Chinese demand for Australian iron ore, coal and LNG remains strong Sino-Australian diplomatic relations are spiralling downward. Already deteriorating prior to the pandemic, Canberra’s calls for an independent international inquiry into the origins of Covid-19 provoked an angry response from China. A recent editor...ial in the state-run Global Times newspaper called the dispute an all-out crusade against China and Chinese culture, led by Australia. This matters. Australia’s export trade with China is huge. By value, China currently buys around a third of everything Australia exports and the ongoing diplomatic bust-up risks spilling over into trade. Chinese media are discussing boycotts of Australian goods. Import bans and tariffs have been mooted on products like beef and wine. China’s ambassador suggested Chinese tourists and students may have second thoughts about choosing Australia. Read more at: https://www.oilandgasaustralia.com.au/as-politicians-bicke/
