23.01.2022 Bipolar disorder is not the same as the typical ups and downs every kid goes through. The mood swings are more extreme and accompanied by changes in sleep, ener...gy level, and the ability to think clearly. While bipolar disorder is far less common than depression in adolescents, it can be extremely impairing and is associated with a high risk for suicide if untreated. 21.01.2022 Past experience tells us victims of family and domestic violence are at increased risk during times of crisis. And there is no doubt that COVID-19 presents new ...ways for perpetrators to isolate, monitor and control their partners and family members. To protect victims and survivors during this challenging period, the McGowan Government has moved to allow applications for restraining orders to be made online through registered legal services such as Legal Aid WA, Aboriginal Family Law Services and community legal services. Anybody can contact these agencies by phone or in person and be assisted with the lodgement of their application. The change is one of a raft of legislative reforms to keep Western Australians safe at a time when many are isolated from their communities. For more information visit www.victimsofcrime.wa.gov.au.

20.01.2022 Maybe you feel like a tourist in your life now, looking at all the "normal" people, going about their "normal" lives, even in these time when nothing is normal.... What was important or meaningful for you before your loss may not even be possible now. You're on the outside looking in, wondering if this time of year will ever bring anything but pain. Here's what I know: pain will be there until it loosens. This will happen on its own. There is nothing you can do to make that happen. Little by little, of its own accord, pain and love will find new pathways. Whatever small light or comfort you can find, that is the thing to follow. Hold on to love. Hold on to the light of your love. Even in the darkest night, it can still be found. What about you? How's your heart? If you've found some small windows of solace, let us know in the comments. If you haven't yet found anything, let us know about that too. Anyone who is confirmed to have COVID-19, who does not require hospitalisation will be required to stay in self-isolation as instructed by the public health team. It is also extremely important that people who are unwell and are concerned they have COVID-19 should immediately self-isolate and then seek further medical advice. - Respiratory clinics - Respiratory clinics are now open in Western Australia. For information on those changes, please visit www.wa.gov.au/covid19roadmap. While we are taking action to ease restrictions in Western Australia in line with expert health advice, we are also continuing to ensure that our State is ready for any future outbreaks of COVID-19 in Western Australia. The Western Australian health system and our hospitals are very well prepared to manage infectious disease situations and have well established systems and processes in place. The State Government is taking this very seriously and we need to remain prepared for a pandemic. Every action we take and decision we make is to protect Western Australians. It is important that we all continue to remain calm, vigilant and use common sense. The best thing we can do to protect ourselves is quality personal hygiene and exercise physical distancing by avoiding unnecessary personal contact. That includes covering coughs and sneezes, washing hands often with soap or sanitiser, staying home from work or school if unwell, avoiding shaking hands or hugging, and maintaining physical distance from others in public. Please also continue to follow the advice of authorities and doctors - anyone who is instructed to self-isolate must take the order seriously, stay home and not put others at risk. ---- Official information regarding COVID-19 in Western Australia - www.wa.gov.au/covid19 WA Department of Health information www.healthywa.wa.gov.au National Coronavirus Helpline 1800 020 080 WA COVID-19 health and information and advice - 13 COVID (13 26843) Smartraveller information regarding travel advice for Australians - www.smartraveller.gov.au
