This award is aimed at active younger surf lifesavers undertaking life-saving duties, who can be presented as identifiable as the future of Surf Life Saving. "Campbell is an experienced surf lifesaver, trainer and patrol captain who contributed to many aspects of lifesaving at the Club during the 2019/20 season. Campbell successfully initiated a new community service program this year which introduced year 10 students to surf life-saving, generating interest and increasing the Club's community involvement and presence." Congrats Campbell!

24.01.2022 MARCHING'S BACK TOMORROW: Friday 19 February, commencing at 8.30am OSC's and parents are welcome to join us to see the Senior Houses and Pipe Band in action for the first time in 2021 (....and here's a sneak-peak at one of OSC's fantastic new posters - this one celebrating our marching tradition. More news about these in weeks to come. We are excited!)
23.01.2022 ::BUSHFIRE RELIEF:: Hey Old Scotchies! Fletcher Wolpers and Campbell Shaw (both ‘16) and both swimming to Rottnest solo next weekend. They’re raising money for the Lord Mayor’s Disaster Relief Fund - Wooroloo and Hills bushfire appeal. Get on board and give them some support for this fantastic cause - link below.
23.01.2022 On Saturday 20 February, Chris Alexander (OSC 1990) and his son Bailey (Year 10) completed solo crossings in the South32 Rottnest Channel Swim. Swimming together as a tandem solo, Bailey at just 15-years-and-six-days-old was one of the youngest competitors to take on the 19.7km journey. Making the feat even more impressive were the extremely tough conditions later in the race, with many seasoned endurance swimmers unable to finish within the cut-off times or, pulling out of t...he race entirely, unable to continue. Drawing on the ethos introduced at Scotch last year around grit and resilience, and setting yourself goals outside your comfort zone, Bailey set himself the challenge of swimming solo to Rottnest. Well done Bailey and Chris. Amazing effort! And a big congratulations to Campbell Shaw (OSC 2016), Fletcher Wolpers (OSC 2016) and Year 11’s Tom Simich for also completing solos. Hit us up in the comments if you took part or know of others in the Scotch community who did See more

23.01.2022 As a reminder, all members of the Class of 2019 are invited to come back to Scotch College to (finally!) collect their 2019 Reporter tomorrow morning, Friday 14 August. We have been postponing the collection due to COVID-19, but are so excited that you are now able to come back to the school grounds. Come down from 8am and catch up with others who you may not have seen for a while, grab a bacon and egg roll, collect your Reporter, and watch House Marching. Following the Marching there will be an opportunity to take a wander through the new Mathematics and Commerce building.
21.01.2022 It has been a tumultuous year, and a lot of us are looking for a little bit of calm and serenity. We will be holding our annual St. Andrew's Day Vale Service in the Scotch College Chapel at 11am on Monday 30 November. All alumni are invited to attend to remember those members of the Old Scotch Collegians community who have passed away, and are encouraged to stay for morning tea following the service. This invitation is open to the wider Scotch College and Old Scotch Collegians community, so please feel free to extend to anyone that you think may be interested. If you will be attending, please email the OSC office at [email protected].
20.01.2022 OSC BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT Following on from the news about Gage Roads and their hospitality and micro-brewery development, we wanted to shine a spotlight on Old Scotch Collegian Ian Olson (85), Chairman of the Board of Directors. Ian was a student at Scotch from Year 7 until graduating at the end of Year 12 in 1985. He was a day student in St Andrews House. After leaving Scotch College, Ian gained a Bachelor of Commerce from UWA and became a Chartered Accountant at EY. He later... lived and worked in both London and New York. Ian counts being a business founder as both a success and a challenge. "The old adage: an overnight success, xx years in the making. When you have success, few people understand how much hard work and perseverance, over many years, went into what looks like instant success. The lesson is to never, ever, give in. Persistence is everything." Ian is always keen to provide career opportunities for young Old Scotch Collegians, potentially at Gage Roads Brewing Co, or at his other business, Pointerra, for any aspiring software engineers. 20.01.2022 Welcome to the Year of the Metal Ox. This Chinese New Year promises to bring luck, and according to one horoscoper ... "the Yin energy, specific to the Chinese zodiac sign of Ox, will be quite poignant. This is going to be a year when we will fully feel the weight of our responsibilities, a year when it is necessary to double our efforts to accomplish anything at all." Sound like a year of G.R.I.T., Scotchies! Our best wishes to all OSC's, especially those in Asia and celebrating!

20.01.2022 Studio Scotch recently sat down with three of our Old Scotch Collegians to talk about their experiences and how they view failure. Special thanks to OSCs Michael Silbert (’79), Spencer Brooks (’12) and Alex Aberle-Leeming (’08). See more

16.01.2022 It was great to help celebrate the Fifty Year Reunion of the 1970 Darlot and Alcock winning teams over the weekend! Stephen Malaxos and Riley Waters, Coach and Vice-Captain of the 2020 1st XVIII, were also in attendance and brought the Alcock Cup with them as well. 16.01.2022 ::REMEMBERING BILL DICKINSON:: Last week Scotchs Student Council ran a Big Freeze event to raise money for research into Motor Neurone Disease (MND). Even though MND was first described over 150 years ago, there is not yet an effective treatment or a cure. MND is a debilitating disease where the neurones fail to work normally and the muscles become weak and waste away as the neurones degenerate and die. Those individuals afflicted with the disease find their speech a...nd ability to walk, swallow and breathe affected, while their mind and senses usually remain intact. Unfortunately, the disease is terminal. This year the Student Council chose to help join the fight and support those researching treatments and a cure. The House representatives helped promote the event with 200 beanies sold in the Senior School and a number of staff members dunked into an ice tank by some enthusiastic students. Senior School Head, Peter Burt (OSC) noted that "While this is an important cause, it is also close to the hearts of many in the Scotch community as our fifth Headmaster, Bill Dickinson, battled the disease in the later years of his life. The Student Council have talked about this connection and while this is our first year of involvement in the Big Freeze, we plan to continue our association and support into the future." Any OSC who would like to join the fight against MND, can access the MND webpage at https://fightmnd.org.au/
15.01.2022 Come on Scotch! We will be watching the live action at 4style.com.au/live and cheering on the maroon and gold!

He is also partner with his son, Ben Randall (01), in The Sandbar in Scarborough. I have had a good life and I attribute that to my days at Scotch. I have been well supported by a great family, my wife Lee-Anne and our three sons, Sam, Ben and Jon, all of whom attended Scotch College.... In 1969 the 1st XVIII were the winners of the Alcock Cup, and in 1970 both the 1st XVIII and 1st XI won their respective Alcock and Darlot Cups. On Saturday 21 November, The Sandbar will host the Fifty Year Reunion of this 1970 achievement and Neil is looking forward to catching up with his teammates, as well as the two coaches, Ian Saggers and Ian Shortland-Jones. 2020 also marks 50 years of uninterrupted representation in the WAFL for Neil, from being signed by Subiaco in 1970 (transferring from Mt Barker) to the present where he is currently a West Australian Football Commissioner. Neil has also have been on the board of AHAWA for 25 years, including being President for the last 16 years, and has also been a National Director of AHA for 20 years and a Director of Hostplus since 2008.
