23.01.2022 The Turtles at Kindy have been learning about their letters and how to write them. Using our own whiteboards, we have been focussing on the first letter of our names. This is the capital letter. Miss Nicole modelled how to write our letters and we followed along on our whiteboards. Everyone was very proud to show their letters to the rest of the class.

19.01.2022 It was wonderful having the team from Dare to Dream preform for us today. Their show centred around respecting our elders, learning from our mistakes, and following our dreams. The students were a great audience, showing respect and enjoyment (lots of giggles!!) throughout the show. Well done Pormpuraaw students - the staff were very proud of you! For the rest of the week the Dare to Dream Team will be working with some of our Year 5/6 students in small workshops to create their own performance for the school later in the week.

13.01.2022 It's starting to look a lot like Christmas! The Turtles and Jellies have got into the festive season spirit as we decorated our rooms and put up our Christmas Trees. Team work and creativity came together as we hung tinsel, strung up lights and carefully positioned baubles and a beautiful shining star.

13.01.2022 After a morning of fine motor Halloween fun, the Turtles and Jellyfish dressed up and went trick or treating.

12.01.2022 On behalf of all the staff at Pormpuraaw State School I would like to acknowledge and thank all the families who have supported their children in all their schooling endeavours. 2020 was hit hard with Covid but you all worked hard to support your children at home and for their return to school. I would also like to thank all the staff at PSS especially our classroom teachers who show so much determination, love, support and passion towards their students each and every day. W...ithout you the children would not have been able to succeed and grow into the confident, successful students they are today. As you may be aware a number of our teachers are moving on this year and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for everything you have given to our students and families over your time in Pormpuraaw. You will leave a lasting impression on many. To our support staff, you are the nuts and bolts that hold it all together. Thank you for always been adaptable and giving so much to the kids day in and day out. As some of you may be aware I am also moving on this year. On a personal level I would like to say it has been an absolute privilege to teach your children all these years. The strong bonds and relationships that have been built will last a lifetime and I cannot wait to come back and visit you all on a regular basis. Children of Pormpuraaw dream big!!! You can be anything you want to be if you just believe in yourself. With respect Miss Erin

11.01.2022 The Turtles have been busy this week making play dough. Here is our recipe so you can try at home! 2 cups plain flour 1/2 cup salt 2 tbs cream of tartar 2 tbs oil... 1 cup hot water (with a few drops of food colouring) Mix all the dry ingredients in a bowl. Stir in oil. Stir in coloured water. Pour out on floured surface and form into dough. Our Turtles chatted away about their Aunties who make their damper like this! See more

09.01.2022 On Thursday, the whole school celebrated Book Week. The Turtles and Jellies were very excited to participate in this event as we all love to read books and dress up! We had a T-Rex, two princesses, a cowboy, a fisherman, an animal superhero, a crocodile, a fireman, three spidermen, a witch and a kindness bucket filler. It was a fun filled morning!

05.01.2022 This week we celebrated NAIDOC week. The Jellies and Turtles worked together to complete our NAIDOC poster. Come and have a look at it in the undercroft.

04.01.2022 As part of our Kindergarten transition to Prep for next year, our Kindy children are going for adventures around the school throughout this term! During these adventures, we will be learning about the school grounds. We will be learning how to use the water taps, big toilets and knowing where the Office, Tuckshop, Library, Undercroft, Oval and classrooms are. These visits allow for the children time and space to learn about their new surroundings which will help them feel comfortable and confident next year.

04.01.2022 Week 5 Positive Behaviour for Learning Focus for the whole school: We are SAFE keeping our hands and feet to ourselves in all settings.

03.01.2022 How exciting is it to come 5 days a week!!! Our Kindy children have been really working hard to come to Kindy every day of the week. Building these strong learning foundations in the early years of Kindy sets up future life long learning as they grow older. It's Icy Poles as a reward for our 5 day kids!!!

03.01.2022 Book Week Dress Up! Come to school tomorrow as your favourite character.

01.01.2022 This term the Taipans wrote their own historical recounts about the First Fleet's arrival in Australia in 1788. Seeing as all of the recounts were written from European's perspectives, this year we chose to write ours from the perspectives of the Traditional inhabitants of Botany Bay and Sydney Cove. I was immensely proud of the quality of work that all students produced - it was by far our best writing task yet! This is an example of an A standard piece produced by one of our Year 4 Students. It is a marvellous recount and we hope you enjoy reading it too :)
