25.01.2022 We started off our day today by watering our community garden. This has been a favourite experience at Olive recently. Kelly met with the president of the local Lions Association who gave her the code for the shed at the community garden. Now we can water it and help nurture and care for it each day. Cooper, Summer and Chloe havent helped us water the community garden yet so Kelly and Frankie lead the way to the garden to show them how we water it. Cooper was very excited to... see the flowers and also spotted some bees. Cooper asked to bring a ball to the park today, and while we were very kindly taking turns at watering the garden we enjoyed throwing and kicking the ball around the garden. Our favourite part about the garden was when we found some potatoes in the potato garden. As we were leaving the garden we spotted some more bees on the flowers, this got us talking about the importance of bees in the garden and how they help pollinate the garden to help the fruit and vegetables grow. We then ventured to the park to play with our grip ball game that Kelly brought to the park. It was a bit tricky at first for us to try and coordinate the game, but we all persevered and had so much fun. Cooper had a great idea to bring our watering cans to the garden next time so that we. Can all water the garden at the same time, Frankie also suggested to make a picture so we know which garden bed we planted our plants in last week See more

25.01.2022 We have had a lovely day so far here at Olive, we were so excited to have Ella and JJ with us today. We started our day by making our own orange juice, it was so delicious. We then had a lovely walk through the community towards our community vegetable garden. As we were at the garden, we spotted so many fruits and vegetables growing there such as pumpkins, radishes, potatoes, snow peas, corn and tomatoes. We then walked to the park and played on the slide and on the swing. On our walk back to Olive, Ella spotted a birds nest on the tree. This sparked curiosity about what birds created the nest and if there were eggs inside. Once we returned to Olive, we read Wear Going On A Bear Hunt, had some lunch and a rest to regain all of our energy for another play this afternoon

24.01.2022 This morning after planting our sunflowers we went for a walk to Bunnings to look at all the beautiful flowers and plants. Frankie loved smelling all of the flowers and pointing out all the pretty ones she loved. Together Frankie and Lawson picked some petty flowers to take back to Olive to plant in our garden. We cant wait to plant them this afternoon

24.01.2022 Another big morning here at Olive today, we were very excited to have Ella with us today. This morning at the community herb and vegetable garden, we met a man named Bob who works for the local Lions Club. We were very excited as Bob was there to give us the special code to unlock the shed at the garden so that we can help our community and water the community garden throughout the week. The Lions Club have been looking for volunteers to help water and look after the gardens ...and we thought it was a great idea to put our hand up and help our community. We also planted some Marigold flowers to help attract the bees and pollinate the fruit and vegetables to help them grow. We will keep an extra close eye on these when we venture to the garden each day. We also spotted some bees as we were there doing their busy job to pollinate the flowers. Kelly explained to us how the bees help the gardens grow, we were so excited when we got to see some bees buzzing around. We then gave all the gardens a good water and then went to the oval next to the garden to fly our bird kite around, we had so much fun doing this yesterday. What a busy and fun morning at the local community garden. See more

17.01.2022 We were little busy bees this morning. We started our morning with our nature walk and firstly went to our community garden to see how all the fruit and vegetables were growing, we met a lady named Sheryl who works for the Lions Club who said we are more than welcome to water the garden when we visit it and showed us where the hose is. We are so excited to come water the community garden on our next visit. We then ventured over to the park and drew some beautiful pictures on the pathway for everyone to see. Last week on one of our walks we spotted some chalk drawings on the path, they put such a big smile on our faces and wanted to create our own to make everyone else smile when they see them. We ended our nature walk with a play on the park before coming back to Olive for some lunch and a rest

15.01.2022 At Olive the children love nature and being outside in the garden. We often see bees, bugs and butterflys as we are in the garden, inspiring us to learn about their importance in our garden and ecosystem. Today we are continuing this learning by getting up close and personal with some of these insects we have spotted in the garden

08.01.2022 We had a very busy morning today. While we were playing inside this morning the ice cream truck stopped outside Kellys house and was ringing its bells. We were all very excited and ran to the gate to see it. Kelly asked us all if we would like a special ice cream, Yay we all yelled out. Together we all walked outside to the ice cream truck, looking at the menu of ice creams we could choose from. We all chose a delicious chocolate covered vanilla ice cream with coloured spr...inkles on top, yummy. We then got our sunscreen, hats and shoes on and gathered our lunch boxes and drink bottles and together we all walked over to the park. We enjoyed eating our ice creams first, they were so yummy. We then had so much fun flying Kellys kite around the oval. The kite was a sparkly bird, and we all enjoyed watching it sparkle in the sunlight as we took it in turns to run around the oval holding the kite. We then enjoyed a picnic for lunch at the park and a play in the playground before walking back to Kellys for a much needed rest after our big morning See more

06.01.2022 For the whole month of August Olive Early Learning will be taking a magical quest filled with adventure and mysteryand its all for one incredible cause. We are reading as many books as we can in August to raise funds for kids who have a parent living with multiple sclerosis. Money raised through the MS Readathon will help fund vital support services, like special Family Camps. These camps provide an opportunity for kids who have a parent affected by MS to learn more about... MS, bond with other kids and have fun with their family. If you can find it in your heart to donate to support this wonderful cause, we truly would appreciate it. To all our Olive children and families, if your children would like to bring along their favourite book to Olive each day to help us read as many books as we can that would be amazing. Thank you for supporting our MS Readathon adventure! Kelly
