I would definitely say my attitude towards social media has been veeeeeeeery relaxed over the past few months but, as things start to settle, I’m determined to get sharing again. . 22.01.2022 Whilst I have always had strict cleanliness and sanitation practices at the cafe, I will be be introducting a few precautionary measures for the immediate future. This will help to minimise the spread of germs and keep everyone (myself included) as safe as possible. Please hold onto the lid of your keep cup and just hand me the cup itself, pay with paypass whenever possible to minimise cash handling, and accept takeaway coffee cups instead of ceramic when enjoying your coffe...e in store. 17.01.2022 Oliver James is now opening Sunday! I have been extremely lucky to still be busy during this heartbreaking time within the hospitality industry. Therefore I will be opening Oliver James 7 days a week for the next little while to embrace that momentum while I can. 17.01.2022 To continue risk reduction, form tomorrow Oliver James will only be offering takeaway coffee and counter food and will no longer be accepting cash, keep cups or dine in orders. As the severity and seriousness of Covid-19 continues to rise, I need to ensure that the wellbeing of my customers and myself is my main priority. Therefore all ordering will be done through the front awning window and the inside area of the cafe will remain closed to patrons. I’d like to thank all my... customers, new and old, for continuing to supporting the cafe and can promise that my banter will still be just as ridiculous from 1.5 meters away. 12.01.2022 After thoroughly reading the government requirements for reopening the cafe, it is clear that it is not feasible for me to allow customers inside at the moment. . The rules for stage 1 are pretty extensive so tune out now if you don’t really care... . Firstly, only 1 customer is allowed per 4 square meters - meaning I can allow a maximum of 7 customers inside at any time.... These 7 customers need to also ensure they are social distancing and remain 1.5 meters apart at all times. I also need to record the personal details of every customer that enters the venue each day so that the government is able to contact trace any future virus transmissions. There’s also a whole bunch of new signage and ordering procedures that I would have to implement to ensure complete compliance. I definitely agree with and support these regulations as we need to make sure we are safely and responsibly reopening businesses and continuing to prioritise the wellbeing of both staff and customers. However, implementing these regulations at Oliver James would slow down the service of all customers (including takeaway) considerably and I don’t think that it is worth it. . Please queue on the yellow crosses down the street. Once you have ordered, move to the other side of the yellow line and listen out for your coffee. Please ensure you are 1.5m apart at all times.... The cafe is busiest between 6:30am and 8:30am so if you are high risk then please avoid these peak times. . I know it will feel weird not hanging around the counter and listening to me talk nonsense but it’s a crazy time and we need to prioritise our own safety and the safety of others. .
