23.01.2022 This young woman developed lymphoedema in her left foot during her first pregnancy 5 years ago. Understandably she was very nervous when she fell pregnant with her second child. 35 weeks in, her lymphoedema is very well under control. She manages with custom made compression stockings and regular monitoring and maintenance visits. Todays message: dont let your lymphoedema get in the way of family planning.

It is estimated to affect approximately 10% of the adult population worldwide and to be the second most common musculoskeletal condition after chronic low back pain (in the USA). This book is a new found gem to assist with understanding jaw disorders and pain conditions involving the head and face. It provides evidence based therapeutic approaches ....and is taking a passion for treating #he...adandneck to the next level. #TMD #jawpain #jawdisorders #tmj #headandneckcancer

08.01.2022 Meet Jan and Bob. Jan recently finished her treatment at our clinic where she had been coming weekly for managing her facial oedema. The couple spent 7 weeks in Sydney, away from their rural property, so Jan could undergo daily radiotherapy for her cancer. Walking helped me to get through it. Jan said one day. Then added casually: Yesterday we walked 20km. WHAT??? My jaw dropped. Jan and Bob walk...a lot. Jan also gets up at 6am with a cup of tea and watches the sunrise f...rom her porch. Oh, you have to watch the sunrise!! It is the most beautiful part of the day, she told me. I promised I will. So, I have been getting up every day for the past 2 weeks to go to the beach and watch the sunrise before work. And she was right. At our farewell we said we will send pictures of the sunrise to each other to compare. Goodbye Jan and Bob! Thank you for all your stories of travel and worldly wisdom. See more

01.01.2022 A patient with acute cellulitis. Swipe to see improvement with intravenous antibiotics during her hospital admission. Cellulitis is a bacterial infection resulting in inflammation of the skin and underlying tissues. It can occur suddenly, spread quickly and is a serious condition requiring rapid antibiotic treatment. It can occur without an obvious disruption of the skin integrity (like in this case) and patients with lymphoedema are at a higher risk of developing it. Symp...toms include redness, heat, swelling and pain. Compression therapy has been shown to successfully reduce the risk in patients with chronic oedema experiencing cellulitis. Find more information on the Australasian Lymphology Association’s website including a consensus guideline for management: lymphoedema.org.au #cellulitis #managingcellulitis #lymph #lymphoedema #lymphedema #secondarylymphoedema #primarylymphoedema #compression #compressiontherapy #redness #skininfection

01.01.2022 Meet Jim. Jim has been receiving ongoing physiotherapy treatment since December 2018 to manage his neck restriction after undergoing surgery and radiotherapy for cancer. Initially Jim had difficulties moving his neck due to his tight muscles and scars as well as due to the swelling under his chin. Jim has been proactively contributing to his recovery, doing his stretches and exercises regularly. ... Initially he was fatigued and physically de-conditioned, but look at him now, attending the Bridges ANZAC Day dawn service earlier this year with his wife Lynda and son Sam. Well done Jim, amazing recovery. Next step: Mt Kilimanjaro.... who knows :-) See more
