25.01.2022 I (Lucy) went to the running company yesterday, to get some new runners and little did I know it would take 5mins off my lake PB (JOKES)! Thank you to Dan, for the incredible customer service - he was patient and I felt very ‘un-rushed’. He was knowledgeable and thorough and I’m confident I have left with a pair of shoes that are just right for me. If you’re after a new pair of shoes (walking or running) - I reckon the running company is the place to go, thank you!

24.01.2022 It's only 4 more weeks until Lucy goes on maternity leave and the Skewes family expands! Lucy's last day before mat leave will be on Friday the 21st of May, she will be taking 4 months leave and returning in October. During this time, Leah will be expanding her hours, to ensure everyone who wants to be seen - can still be. In case you haven't met Leah already, Leah is trained in the same technique as Lucy and operates very similarly. She has worked with us for the last 18 ...months and, as Lucy does, she works closely with One Life's team of physiotherapists, myotherapists and remedial massage therapists. Most importantly, Leah is fantastic at what she does, she cares wholeheartedly and she will pick up your care, just where Lucy left off, having access to all of Lucy's clinical notes relating to you. If you would like to see Lucy before she starts her maternity leave, you still have time. Otherwise, if you would like to see Leah, you can do this by booking online or calling One Life Health Group on 5332 1948.

Due to the changes above, Nath will now be available for early appointments on a Friday, starting at 7am and ongoing.

20.01.2022 In response to Victorian Government recommendations, we are asking patients that have recently been to New South Wales hot zones to avoid visiting the clinic at this time. These areas are defined as Greater Sydney, Central Coast and The Northern Beaches. We have telehealth appointments available for patients that may be affected by this and really appreciate your support in this matter. If you have any questions or concerns please call the clinic on 5332 1948

18.01.2022 Have you been thinking about taking your baby to a chiropractor? This is me (Lucy, Chiropractor here at One Life), with my 3 beautiful boys Woody, Benji and Wal. I’ve treated all of them, just a few times, each for different reasons. If you’re thinking of taking your baby to see a chiropractor, I thought it may be helpful to share some commonly asked questions of me, as a chiropractor who treats babies as well as children, pregnant women and adults in general. How old shou...ld my baby be to come and see you? Any age is great. If you are worried about something in particular, then the sooner the better but if you’re just wanting to bring your baby in for a check-up, then about 10 14 days-old is ideal (or whenever you feel up to leaving the house)! What will you do to my baby? The consultation is roughly 45 minutes long. We will talk about the time before you were pregnant, your pregnancy and birth and then the time after birth, including how your baby is doing and any concerns you may have. I will then assess your baby from head to toe and record things such as weight, length, head growth and general development. Following this, I will perform a chiropractic check (and treatment if needed), which is extremely gentle and involves absolutely no cracking! Why would I bring my baby to see you? There are many reasons why it would be a good idea to get your baby seen to. Some common presentations I see are feeding troubles, flat head, sleep troubles, a rough birth or colic. Alternatively, I think it’s a great idea to bring your baby in even if they’re happy and content and you have no concerns I’ll still check them from head to toe and in some cases, they will still benefit from treatment if indicated. Do you have ‘special’ training in babies? Yes! I have completed a 2 year Graduate Diploma (in addition to the initial 5 years), specifically in Paediatric Chiropractics How often will I need to bring my baby to see you? Most often, I will see a baby very few times as they don’t usually carry with them the day to day stressors that we as adults do, such as work-related stress etc. This means that they tend to respond quickly to care. Will you hang my baby upside down by his feet? No!! If you have anything you would like to ask me, please send me a DM!

14.01.2022 A few words from Shane, physiotherapist at One Life Health Group and all-round good bloke - I'm taking part in Black Dog Institute's Mullets for Mental Health because mental health is complicated and unique to everybody. My mental health journey started when I was 17. It's now over 10 years later and I'm still figuring out what works for me. The first time I saw a psychologist, I wasn't ready. For one reason or another I didn't engage and because of this, I didn't find it ...particularly helpful. The second time I saw a psychologist was different. This time my visits were self-driven and allowed me to recognise my emotions and when my 'bucket was full'. They also helped me to identify things that didn't help (such as alcohol) along with developing simple strategies for things that do help. These little strategies allow me to cope better with stress and negative emotions and include walking the dogs, exercising, reading comic books, playing video games...even colouring in! I'm still learning about my own mental health...including that it's OK to cry and be vulnerable which is something that I still struggle with! I am grateful to my friends and family who have always supported me. Here is Shane’s link https://www.teamblackdog.org.au//sh/mulletsformentalhealth if you’d like to donate or read more!

08.01.2022 Did you know one of our receptionists Kate had breast cancer? She was diagnosed in 2008 at the age of 27, and it was a self breast examination that saved her life! October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and at OLHG we want to get the message across that a breast check once a month is so important. Pick a date every month and do it! It doesn’t matter if you are male, female, old or young .... everyone needs to check. If you notice any lumps or bumps, irregularity or change...s you should go to your GP and get them checked. If it wasn’t for Kate’s diligence and fast acting she wouldn’t still be here to greet you with that smile (when she’s not wearing a mask of course!) To find out more about how you can check your breasts head to https://www.bcna.org.au/breast-health-awa/breast-awareness/ Stay tuned for some super exciting news about Kate in the coming weeks .... as she is about to release her book!

06.01.2022 Time to set a goal! The team at OLHG are viewing this 2nd 6-week lock down as an opportunity to do things differently. We have decided to inspire each other to pick a goal and commit to achieving it and we are asking YOU to join us! Currently, it feels as though we have little control regarding our day to day activities so we’re hoping that by choosing something we can control and achieve on a day to day basis, this would serve as a little pick me up, through these rough time...s. We are acutely aware of the fact that ‘we are all in the same storm, but not the same boat’ we don’t want to trivialise the impact of COVID-19 for anyone, we simply want to help, albeit in a small way. Now is more important than ever to look after yourself - mentally, spiritually, and physically so please join us and invest in you, just a little, every day. Here are some of the goals our team have committed to; Reading for 30 minutes each day 30 minutes of housework each day Send a card to a loved one each day 45 minutes of walking per day 10 minutes of meditation per day 30 minutes of exercise per day Let us know below what goal you want to set, so that we can help you achieve it!

05.01.2022 We wanted to wish the best of luck to our receptionist Tash and all of our amazing patients running in the Great Ocean Road Running Festival this weekend!! Let us know what distance you are running ....
