13.01.2022 After a crazy weekend here is the medal haul from the @spartanraceau Gold Coast Trifecta weekend. I pulled out of the ultra to focus on my team at the event and running the OMR tent, but still had plenty of fun hitting the races and after a disaster of a beast I pulled up ok on Sunday, only just missing a podium in the super coming in 4th by a few mins. We are missing a 3x Trifecta medal because Spartan didn’t realise @dom1n1ka21 and I had raced in the Philippines prior to ...covid, I think we are possibly the only two aussies in the country to get three for the year Here’s to 2021 being fucking awesome! Over the last 5 Years Mark has managed to Snowboard, Wakeboard, Compete in Powerlifting, Biathon, Triathlon, More OCR Races than people consider normal, he's finished two 24 Hour Enduro’s while Inspiring the start of a movement of Adaptive OCR within Australia. Mark has appeared on three seasons of Australian Ninja Warrior, He won a... Bronze and Gold Medal at the 2018 Invictus Games and he is currently training for the 2024 Paralympics in Paracanoe. Mark is taking what he has learnt and is currently completing his Fitness Qualifications to specialise in Adaptive Strength and Conditioning in Perth. 09.01.2022 Recently I posted a picture of myself in my elevator, wearing a candy g string, some inflatable boobs and a mullet. As you could probably guess, the post receiv...ed mixed reviews. Anyone who knows me knows that my social media is just an extension of how I am in real life, I don’t fake it, in fact, I used to censor it. The reason that I used to hold back is that I was worried about giving people the wrong impression of me. I cared what people thought. We want people to accept us, in ancient human tribes, being an outcast would mean death. This is why we have evolved to have things like fear of public speaking. We don’t put ourselves out there for fear of rejection because it used to be life and death. These evolved traits unfortunately don’t really help us much anymore though, they hurt us. We become so worried about fitting in, that we forget to be happy being who we are. I learnt a while ago that no matter what I did with my life, it was going to upset someone. If I laid on the lounge all day playing video games, my girlfriend at the time was pissed at me. When I stopped drinking, my mates that I partied with were upset. When I started missing social events because I was hustling building a business I pissed a lot of people off. Fact is, you can’t make everyone happy all the time, in fact, you can’t make everyone happy ever. Trying to keep everyone happy is a good way to make yourself consistently miserable. Once I stopped trying to please people and just decided to be myself, my people started to find me. I became much happier with my life. This doesn’t mean be fucken abrasive. If you’re a fucken dick to people, you will probably be treated as such. But just don’t be afraid to have an opinion. Don’t be afraid to be you. For the record, the post was the last of a string of ridiculous posts in my elevator, involving some funny shit I found while moving out and was throwing in the rubbish. The candy G string was a 30th gift, the inflatable boobs were part of a Caitlyn Jenner costume (Ask about this at your own risk) and I have no fucken idea why I had that particular mullet wig. So safe to assume the wig was a weird sex thing. As a social experiment, I decided to track my total number number of friends before the post and after. I post some pretty out there shit but this was extreme even for me. To my count, I lost 48 facebook friends due to that one post. This might have been a new spartan in the US I friended that week, this might have been the first post of me they saw. Or it could have been a high school friend who finally thought, Fuck, I hate all this Spartan shit and I’m sick of this lunatic. The point of this is not to complain that I lost friends, but to make clear that if you decide to be true to yourself, some people aren’t going to like it. I run my business solely on social media. If anyone was going to be upset by the numbers then it should be me. But I’m not. If anything I’m grateful. I’m grateful that we live in a world that I can have a conversation about my passion of OCR in real time with people from all over the globe. I’m grateful that I can post a picture nearly nude in an elevator and it entertain people, instead of just trigger everyone. It has never been this easy to find ‘your’ people. We have never had this much control over our media. I literally get ALL of my information from word of mouth and social media (Which is basically word of mouth) I don’t listen to the radio, I don’t watch TV, I don’t read the news. All of the media that lands in front of me is personally curated by me. I find out about natural disasters from instagram memes. Does this mean I’m uninformed? No. It just means I choose what I want to be informed about. I select my friends, I select the pages I follow, the groups I’m in, the websites I visit. And you do too. So instead of worrying about upsetting the people who don’t like the things that you like, spend your time finding the people you share common ground with. This goes both ways too. If you feel the need to hate on or criticise others, it might just be that you’re following the wrong people. Your tribe exists if you care to look for it, it’s now just a digital one.

This takes me about an hour of my time every fortnight (you can donate plasma more often than blood ) I really wish I had started doing this years before I did as it’s so easy and you really are making a difference. ... Shannon was born in NZ and 14 years ago moved to Western Australia for a few years, but loved it so much that he never left! He grew up running, triathlon and playing state level soccer, getting hooked on Obstacle Racing after his first Tough Mudder in 2013.... Shannon has won True Grit Perth twice and placed highly in the Bright Trifecta, you might have also seen him getting around the True Grit 24hr Enduro course!
