23.01.2022 As it was Wattle Day on the 1st of September we have celebrated today by providing the children with wattle easel painting. A Wattle flower was placed on top of the easel where we could see and attempt to copy to create our own wattle flower picture. We used a paint brush for the green branches and leaves and a cotton ball on a peg to create yellow flowers. We all had to lots of fun doing this painting on the easel.

20.01.2022 Our bush play program extends inside as well. Opportunities are provided for children to develop their fine motor skills, eye-hand coordination and dexterity ready for school next year. Today we used leaves to create some beautiful pictures of different leaves and flowers. We had to hold the crayon sideways and rub it across the page, then we used our other helper hand to hold the leaf still underneath the paper.

16.01.2022 On Thursday as part of this week's program, the children were provided with a Wagyl inspired Small World as an afternoon experience. This small world was completed with the Australian animals of Kangaroo's, Emu's and Crocodile, green turf, natural tree logs, some fresh pick Bottle Brush which was sourced from out the front of our Centre and some blue card which represented the water. Our little ones loved re-enacting the Aboriginal Dreamtime story. The Noongar describe the Wagyl as a snakelike Dreaming creature responsible for the creation of the Swan and Canning rivers and other waterways and landforms around present day Perth and the south-west of Western Australia. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wagyl

16.01.2022 During the initial planning process of transforming Online Child Care Centre into OLCC Bush Kids, a great deal of time went into choosing and selecting an appropriate logo that would reflect our vision and Centre philosophy. The logo we chose to represent Bush Kids is the Wattle. September 1st celebrates National Wattle Day. As the Wattle is an important part of the identity of our Centre we have been exploring Wattle with the children this month.

01.01.2022 School holiday program - how super cute are these! Cut the bottom off a 1.25L drink bottle - taking care to cut out some pussycat ears. The children have painted the bottle, glued google eyes, drawn on a face (and some unique decorating), filled the pot with soil and planted some parsley. Gorgeous little plant pots!
