25.01.2022 Earlier this month we welcomed the lovely Anne Thoday back to Opendrawer to teach a Coiled Basketry workshop. These are the beginnings of the baskets our students started in the class (also featuring some of Annes finished pieces). Arent they looking lovely? Taught by experienced sewing machine mechanic Gordon Carr, our Machine Maintenance classes have been described as mind-blowing and always sell out. Youll learn how to clean and maintain your machine, including how to correctly oil and thread your machine, change needles, the best threads and needles to use for your machine and much more. 23.01.2022 Dear valued Opendrawer customers and community, Some of you may know that Opendrawer’s founder and owner Robyn has been experiencing some ill health recently, and unfortunately her recovery has been more complex than anticipated. This means that in order to ease pressure on Robyn and aid in her recovery, we will be winding back our opening hours for 2019. For the time being, we will be open on: ... Thursdays, 9:30am - 4:30pm and Saturdays, 10:00am - 2:00pm. 22.01.2022 Did you know that creative play can keep the doctor away? Far from being child's play, studies are finding that engaging in creative activities can be beneficial for adults as well! We spoke to Art Play tutor Robyn, student Belinda, and psychologist Emma to find out more about the benefits of creative activities, like the ones our Art Play students do in class. If you'd like to learn to free up your creativity in a supportive environment, we're now taking expressions of interest for our 2020 semester 1 Art Play class. 10.01.2022 Learn to make your own bush animals with fibre artist Caroline Hawkins! In this workshop, you will learn to create your own sculptural animals, using just wool and hay. Youll start by creating a small kangaroo to learn the basics, and then let your imagination run wild to create another animal of your choosing. The workshop is coming up on November 10.
