25.01.2022 To our Open House Church Family, Last night we met as a Steering Committee to discuss among other things the issue of the developing Covid-cluster in NW Sydney and our in-person gatherings on Sundays as a Church. After a long discussion, we all came to the unanimous decision that it was best for us to go back to Church Online for the next couple of weeks. The Director of the National Centre for Immunisation Research and Surveillance (NCIRS), Professor Kristine Macartney, tol...d the ABC the Tangara school outbreak shows there is likely a lot more community transmission than previously thought. Schools are probably acting as the tip of the iceberg. We are expecting that the virus is in the community more broadly to some level, which we do need to uncover now she said. Therefore we will continue to monitor the situation moving forward, and look to meet again once the situation sufficiently subsides. While it is a little frustrating, and we do love meeting together, we ultimately felt it was the right thing to do to love our community, follow Christ's example of self-sacrificial love, and hopefully do our bit to prevent a situation like the one in Victoria right now. This also means Steve & Tam’s Official Induction will be postponed. While this is obviously disappointing for them and us, we look forward to the day when we can celebrate this occasion properly! 15.01.2022 To all our Open House family and friends, On Tuesday night our Steering Committee met to discuss and make a decision on the path forward for our Church during this season of Covid-19. In short, we are excited to announce we will be regathering for in-person services on Sunday, October 11! We are also looking to have Steve & Tam's Induction Service the following week on October 18. We can’t wait to see you and be together again! We of course will continue to provide an online... alternative to those who are unable to attend. Furthermore, we examined and discussed what would be an appropriate number of Covid-cases for us to meet together in keeping with our desire to be a safe and responsible community group. We felt that if there is a sustained average number of 10+ locally acquired cases of Covid-19 in NSW, or if there’s a local hotspot that develops in the future - at that point we would need to consider going back online again. We will of course continue to monitor the situation and follow all the latest Government safety advice and protocols. That means for the next few weeks, we will continue to provide Church Online. Steve is starting a great new series this Sunday called Just Like Jesus. For these next few weeks if you would like to gather in small groups in your homes to watch Church Online and enjoy fellowship and community, we would encourage that! 12.01.2022 We're pleased and excited to announce that Eliza Galbraith will officially be taking on the role as our Worship and Creative Pastor starting in February. Eliza had been helping us out already, and been doing a great job! She has a real heart for God, a gift for worship leading, and brings to us a broad range of experiences and skills. We believe she will really help our Church move forward as we continue to grow, and in particular build the strength of our worship and creative ministry team. Please be praying for Eliza as she takes on this significant role!
