25.01.2022 Food prep ready for a super early get up and road trip to Sydney to watch the #crossfitregionals2018. I am always surprised at the lack of truely healthy snacks available on long drives or while travelling. For this reason, I always take some of my own. Vegetable sticks are the perfect snack as they contain many micronutrients along with vitamins, minerals and fibre.

25.01.2022 Colour! I feel like my body is needing more nutrients at the moment because training has gotten much more intense! Nourishing my body with as many different antioxidants, vitamins and minerals as possible always helps energy levels and performance. I've also been increasing my healthy fats. In this meal I've added @ausprimaryhemp oil and avocado. Yum!

24.01.2022 So this time 1 year ago, I was 4 weeks away from undertaking one the most gruelling, rewarding and emotional days of my life #busseltonironman I had trained for 6 months on my own to try this crazy Ironman thing. For those of you who dont know. A full Ironman triathlon consists of: 3.9km ocean swim 180km bike ride... 42.5km marathon run I dont think Ive ever been so nervous in my life and I also dont think Ive ever been so proud of myself. My prep was good, my nutrition was good, my training was consistent. Everything was as it should have been. I even recovered remarkably well and only lost 4 toenails . One thing I didnt anticipate was the come down. I had been so excited to have that massive high that comes with a sporting achievement or any life milestone, that I forgot to take care of my mental health post race. What next? More triathlon or back to #crossfit ??? What would I look forward to now that I could have a life again!? This is a super common with humans in general and I have since then, made it protocol with my athletes and all patients to nourish this side of them. #nutients #neurotransmitters #focus #planning #talking and #mentalhealthrecovery are so important. Eating right and taking the right supplements to physically and mentally get back on track are key when you are feeling like this- I know because Ive been there. So remember, keep going and live the dream because its the best! But get help from a qualified practitioner if you need it. Good luck to my athletes competing at Noosa tomorrow!

19.01.2022 It's National Nutrition week. Eating more vegetables daily can help reduce and prevent obesity and various other diseases. Most of us are not getting anywhere near enough veg which can contribute to nutrient deficiency and severe (and sometimes life threatening) health conditions. ... Let's be conscious of this and eat up as much colourful veg as we can. I promise you will feel so much better in so many ways!

19.01.2022 Did you know that the brain is the body's number 1 priority over all of the other organs for survival? The foods we eat can signal or inhibit neurotransmitters (the chemical messengers in the brain) which determine our behaviour both physically and mentally. Fuelling the body with correct nutrition is important on so many levels but often we forget how important brain health is. Adequate macronutrients- Protein, Carbohydrate and Fats are a great place to start. ... Increasing Omega 3 fatty acids such as oily fish and increasing B Vitamins from fresh fruit and vegetables (in particular, Folate) can help to dramatically lift brain fog. Processed foods such as sugar and gluten can inhibit neurotransmitters. Wholefood Carbohydrates are generally calming by increasing serotonin production whereas Protein can block serotonin production therefore increasing alertness.

I shared my answer to this on my story but it was too important to not post about it as well. It got me a little fired up and I feel like its a topic that needs to be talked about more. ... I dont have a flat belly because I believe in fueling my body for performance over restricting my calories to look a certain way. Yeah if I starved myself or cut down my fats and still trained as much as I do I might finally get that 8 pack but reality is my body type wont. I like to eat and I know when I dont eat enough I just dont feel good during training. And a lot of it also comes down to genetics. So Im sorry but I will never be one of the girls with no belly fat at all and Im okay with it. Im not an Instagram model, Im an athlete and what we do is completely different here so if you dont like the way I look you can unfollow. Thank you! #GROWNSTRONG #StrongIsIn PS. This is me no makeup, hair not done, just got done with training. I eat around 3000 calories a day and I feel HAPPY and HEALTHY in my body. The goal is to bring local Natural Healthcare Practitioners together to understand the detrimental new proposed changes to our healthcare system. 13.01.2022 Last weekend the sun came out for the first time in a while down here in Victoria, so I finally put my wetsuit on and had a swim at eastern beach and it was amazing! Vitamin D from the sunshine and minerals from the sea are a great way to start the day! Only 2 weeks until #ironmanbusselton2017 . 11.01.2022 One of my beautiful patients Celeste with her #InBody scans. Celeste came to me wanting to lose body fat, increase muscle mass and feel more energetic. She worked really hard and consistently followed the nutrition plan that I designed for her. The body composition scans showed a reduction in body fat by 4kg, increase in muscle by 2kg. 11.01.2022 An past university friend posted this today and I thought it was important for me to bring up. This year I had a personal goal to reduce my overall use of plastics in my life. I have always been environmentally conscious but wanted to take that next step because I knew I could be better. These days our life is full of convenience- take home meals, take away coffee cups, individually wrapped snack bars, smoothie cups, plastic wrapped vegetables and the massive one- plastic b...ags. We all love convenience and to be truthful sometimes you can’t avoid it but if everyone does their part we can make a huge difference. 10.01.2022 Sometimes I eat Vego. Did you know, I was a vegetarian for almost 8 years? During that time, I learned that MY body needed some animal protein to thrive. As a nutritionist, I get asked about this almost daily. Is it better? Is it healthy? The answer is a complicated one because there is so much conflicting research on both sides. I also believe that genetics, food quality and lifestyle all play a part in what works for someone. We are after all- individuals. For me, I eat... grass fed red meat approximately 1 x per week. I eat vegetarian x 2 per week and the rest of the time I eat free range chicken and fish. This is where my body feels best and functions optimally for me. I still have days (most days) where I hate the idea of eating animals. But I also know that I need to keep myself healthy. Some people have been vegan for years and thrive. So, the conclusion of this discussion is- try things out. Listen to your body. If you need advice, seek it. Happy eating! See more

ACT NOW and sign the petition to he...lp protect your right of choice in healthcare. What's at risk? - Private Health Insurance rebates for natural therapies to be cut April 2019. - Labor will introduce a GST TAX on natural medicine and therapies. - Anti-complementary medicine lobby groups continue attempts to influence health policy. - Positive evidence ignored in Government-funded research. Educational courses are being shut down and practitioners unable to access ingredients. Why? Behind all of these drastic cuts and proposed changes are Government-funded reports that declare there is NO evidence that 17 natural therapies from yoga to naturopathy are effective. The Government is using the reports to justify restricting your choice in healthcare. We want to know why the Government is ignoring world-wide, positive scientific evidence. We want a Senate Inquiry to scrutinise these reports starting with the very first report that is now the subject of a complaint to the Commonwealth Ombudsman.
