24.01.2022 What is Plantar Fasciitis or heel pain? Heel pain is a very common foot problem. Pain usually appears under the heel, behind the heel or the entire heel. Patients can sometimes feel the pain in the arch of their foot. It usually affects just one foot, but it can affect both feet. The pain may be described as dull pain, some people may experience a sharp pain also. While some patients may feel a burning or ache on the plantar (bottom) aspect of their foot. The pain is typically worse in the morning when you take the first steps out of bed, or after a period of reset. Sometime it can be difficult to climb the stairs due to stiffness of the heel. Furthermore, some people may also feel pain after prolonged activity, this is due to the increased inflammation.

23.01.2022 OSTEOARTHRITIS Osteoarthritis is the most common cause of disability in the world. Osteoarthritis affects an estimated 9 million Australians. This painful condition develops when there is a breakdown of cartilage in the joints. Osteoarthritis can occur with age, or it can be caused by a joint injury or stress on the joints from a specific job, sport or being overweight. Over time, some people experience extreme inflammation and permanent damage to the joint. The joint may eve...n need to be surgically replaced. The chance of developing the disease increases with age. The whole joint is enclosed by the synovial sac. In osteoarthritis, the cartilage becomes thinner and rougher while the bone underneath thickens. The ends of the bones start to rub against each other which causes pain and even more damage. The bones try to repair themselves, but this is not very successful, so it results in a more uneven surface of spurs and cracks. The synovium also produces extra fluid, which results in swelling, and there are changes to the ligaments, which cause movement restriction. Muscles may also become weaker Progression is slow and many patients diagnosed with OA will not suffer a great degree of deterioration . Call us now on 9077 5915 to discuss treatment options.

20.01.2022 Did you know that Ganglion Cysts is a tumor or swelling which is usually developed on top of a joint or through tendon (a tissue connecting muscles to bones) sheath. The physical look of the cyst is like a sac of liquid inside of which is a clear, yet thick and sticky, jellylike material. Such a cyst may feel either firm or spongy, depending on the size of it.
