25.01.2022 Blinded by Colour Within the spectrum of visible light, there is a wonderful physiological effect which exists every day for us. Colours with long wavelengths (eg. red) elicit a faster recognition response in the brain. While colours with shorter wavelengths (eg. green or blue) are considered soothing and have been proven to be little blood pressure reducers! Yellow is a middle wavelength colour and because its the brightest colour, its an attention grabber! Yellow is perce...ived as being a positive, filled with energy; red however, is more passionate in character. 22.01.2022 Shortly after COVID hit in March 2020, Oranje created a ‘personalised pop-up party’ shop for children so that they can continue to party and connect, no matter where they are, no matter what stage we are experiencing of global pandemic. Having experienced COVID-19 through her son Willem’s eyes, Oranje’s Creative Director wanted to find a way to keep the kids of COVID happy and connected in a world so different to what they knew just yesterday. oranjesoda.com

16.01.2022 We owe it to them. Many know that the South Australia Women’s Suffrage League was instrumental in obtaining the right to vote for women. It’s thanks to these powerful South Australian women that we were the first in the world to gain the right to stand for parliament in 1895. They were key figures in the campaign for equality. Mary Lee actually inaugurated the South Australian Women’s Suffrage League and was secretary well into her 70s. She organised a colony-wide petition to... allow women to vote, which yielded 11,600 signatures. The document was a whopping 122 metres long! By her 75th birthday, 60,000 women had enrolled to vote. The suffragists also had a significant interest in the education of girls. In 1889, Mary Lee as secretary of the Queen’s Home for Domestic Instruction reminded the government of its obligations to the women of South Australia and to provide funds and buildings to educate girls - with the same resources as the boys' technical schools. Women in South Australia can thank these women for their education. Society did not, though. And sadly many led incredibly poor lives - putting most of their own money to the campaigns. When researching the life of Mary Lee, our Creative Director Melinda Parent discovered Mary died penniless in one of the rooms of Melinda’s very own house. Oranje Creative is honoured to have worked on the suffragists 125 year celebratory campaign for Parliament House. 02.01.2022 Oranje won the contract to develop a new brand and identity for Immigration South Australia. Our work included a sub-brand to celebrate 20 Years of Immigration South Australia, plus concept and produce the publication ‘MiStory: Celebrating the stories and experiences of skilled migrants who now call South Australia home’. The scope of work included creating a suite of hero photos to capture the success of recent migrants. Interviews were conducted, we wrote their stories, sc...oped-out photographic locations. We directed and photographed each story candidly, and anywhere we felt captured their new life in South Australia. The brief came from Marketing guru, Mirjana Salopek. Oranje had previously worked closely with Mirjana on the National Pharmacies account. Mirjana wanted to highlight success stories of recent migrants who have chosen to make South Australia their home. Talk about where they have come from, their experience arriving in SA, where they are working, how they are settling-in. To tell their unique stories. A broad cross section of migrants were heroed from India, Philippines, South Africa, Malaysia, UK, South Africa, South America, Europe and China. It was a fascinating and a very fulfilling campaign to be part of. The stories were authentically told and revealed ways of life totally foreign to us. We loved working with Samadhi Thomaz (pictured). Samadhi reflected I came from the fifth biggest city in the world, and one of the biggest countries in the world, where opportunities are small, traffic is insane, pollution is high, it’s extremely expensive and security is quite non-existent. 26.12.2021 WOMEN WHO INSPIRE ORANJE. A post that goes back to where it all truly began. Melinda had just completed the last of three uni degrees, was overseas modelling, travelling and absorbing as much art as she could with Graeme (now her husband) when she received a phone call about a job opening at a small design firm in Norwood. She returned and got the job. It was here she met Tania. They had a great rapport from the get-go. Both were so passionate about great design and working ...hard. The pair connected through their wicked sense of humour and as Tania remembers "having big, caring hearts". Fast forward and Tania has achieved milestones many artists only dream of, including hosting multiple exhibitions, owning her own art gallery and artwork hanging on the walls of celebrity homes (Amy Shark, Joel Parkinson, Shelley Craft, Aaron Finch and Curtis McGrath, to name a few) featuring in national design publications, and even making appearances on TV series including The Block! Her friendship with Melinda has been an inspiration to Tania too, Melinda’s home was surrounded by music, beautiful art pieces, modernist furniture. I remember being so inspired by her whole outlook on life. She also surrounded herself with incredibly artistic people. I think if you’re creative it comes out in you in all aspects of your life. Tania's vision is to encourage people to see their own version of the story in her art, to create conversations, to stir emotions. When you think about it, this is what connects us people and what we need now more than ever. My ultimate goal when I create is to make people feel something. If they experience an emotion or connection with the art, to me, that makes it a good piece of art says Tania. 06.12.2021 Walford Anglican School for Girls changed my life. And not just as a student. While it was wonderful to have been invited as a special guest speaker at a Walford Speech Night and share my story as an Old Scholar working in the creative industries, it’s Oranje’s ongoing connection to impact the lives of young women that makes me so passionate about the School. Oranje has held the creative account for Walford for over 10 years. If you have been following our Women Who Inspire ...Oranje stories, you will probably have noticed Oranje's purpose has always been to create content to accurately represent women. To create woman-made content that displays an easy, unconscious competence when it comes to marketing to women. A constructive, rather than critical, message. A freedom of creative self expression, reinforcing the fact that women are not about camouflaging or blending in. And that was the rationale behind our ‘Her Best’ brand, developed for Walford. The creative shows empowered, energetic, confident, courageous, resilient but compassionate Walford students - encouraged to voice their opinions, take risks and realise their aspirations. To be "Her Best" at whatever she chooses. To feel empowered for her future. To have the integrity to be herself. To make a difference. To have respect and empathy. While not an ‘easy’ project, this one flowed for me, as it came straight from the heart of the experience I had at Walford.
