25.01.2022 As part of our School Readiness program, our Preschoolers are practising their scissor and cutting skills this week! Learning to cut using scissors requires using two hands together, with both hands doing different movements. Manipulating the paper while opening and closing the scissors can be quite tricky, so it’s important to be patient as they develop these important fine-motor skills. #earlylearning #schoolreadiness #readyforschool #orchardelc #preschool #preschoolactivities

11.01.2022 We love sharing stories together! Reading aloud, and together, helps children develop those all-important early literacy skills as they begin to recognise sounds, words and language. It also stimulates curiosity, sparks imagination and helps them to better make sense of the world around them. We have so many great titles in our Centre libraries, why not grab one to share together this week at home!... #earlylearning #nursery #toddler #preschool #orchardelc #sharingstories #storieswithfriends #learningtoread

05.01.2022 We know that learning a new skill (and taking a risk) can often be a little scary - but it’s a lot easier when you know that you're being supported every step of the way! As children grow, learn and engage in risky play activities, they begin to develop an understanding of their own abilities and how to deal with a range of situations they might come across in everyday life. That’s why we believe in stretching the realms of everyday practice and reconceptualising risk through a developmental lens. #riskyplay #orchardelc #passionateeducators #orchardearlylearningcentre #earlylearning #preschool #strongleaders

03.01.2022 Children play make-believe because it's fun - but did you know that it's also a vital component of normal child development? Imaginative play or pretend play allows children to explore their creativity, develop social skills, and increase their understanding of the world around them by re-enacting what they see. #orchardelc #earlylearning #toddler #imaginativeplay #preschool
