20.01.2022 We are proud to announce the birth of our first mega bale, produced yesterday at our factory in Childers, Queensland! Our new bale of joy measures 110cm x 110cm x 60cm, weighs a whopping 220kgs, and is packed full of 3.2m3 worth of compressed fibre product. This monster sized bale is the biggest in Australia, and the machine is one of only a few in the world. Our new mega baler compliments our other Australias biggest industrial dryer. Basically, we can harvest on the far...m, transport the wet product straight from the farm to the factory, run the product through our industrial fibre dryer, put the dried product through our baler (as per video), and transport the finished, compressed bales direct to the customer, ALL ON THE SAME DAY! Anyone who knows about growing and harvesting hay, understands the 2-3 week turn around for this process. Brenno has been with Oreco for 7 years and jumped at the opportunity to upgrade his skills and get a qualification under his belt. Brenno is undertaking a Mechanical Engineering (Fitter & Turner) Apprenticeship. With so many new machines, we are certainly glad to have him move into this role.... Brenno loves the variety and the challenges in the work he does. His day to day sees him fixing all kinds of machinery. Once each bin is filled by Greensill Farming Group on farm, it is transported straight into the Oreco factory for processing, drying and packaging. This month, we acknowledge and thank the nicest guy on a Forklift, Ash Murphy for his tireless efforts! Ash has the difficult task of managing stock movement from the outfeed line to the inside of a truck. This job is even more challenging now than ever, having to work around builders and contractors as we complete the new factory. Ash has been with Oreco Gro...up for 2.5 years. He has great ideas and goals for himself, his team and the way his department operates. Ash says that although its challenging with the factory build going on, he is really excited about the possibilities and improvements that can be made once its done. I am aiming for an organised yard with maximum efficiency. We will have a neat workspace that functions well. We will introduce new technology and permanent, allocated stock locations to provide stock levels in real time. Its very exciting, I am really looking forward to it! "We are also getting more staff which I am also really happy about. We are getting four new forklift operators, a groundskeeper and a night yard person" We asked Ash a few questions.
