25.01.2022 As the birthplace of Origami Yoga is Guangzhou, China, the recent epidemic has been painful to watch from afar. The feeling of impotence from not being able to be there and contribute to the effort has been huge. I have decided to help the only way I can, by providing online yoga classes from Australia to people who are under self-imposed quarantine in China. Next week, classes begin via Zoom, and the first sequence we will work one is a beginner's introduction to yoga. I am sharing it with you so you can practice at home as well. https://www.tummee.com/yoga-sequence/0E0MY

25.01.2022 Origami Yoga offers bespoke private yoga classes on a one to one and group basis. If you want individual attention with customised yoga sequences for your specific needs, call us to enquire about our private rates. Initial consultation is two hours long, and it includes an assessment of your needs: whether it be for injury rehabilitation, chronic health issues or just to work on your yoga practice. We ask that you bring along any medical history that will help us create the best experience possible for you. Private classes are by appointment only. Contact us via 0449007656 or through our email [email protected].

24.01.2022 Yoga in the park has its challenges: noise, interruptions, background situations... But the rewards are worth it: Vitamin D in spades, energy levels rise, our connection to nature is closer. Even just a small warm up sequence of Mountain Pose, Forward Fold, Half Forward Fold, Downward Dog, Lunge, Revolved Lunge , can get your spine moving and your body warm.

22.01.2022 #yoganidra and #restorative yoga lets you activate the #relaxation response in your parasympathetic system, which quietens down your nervous system and allows you to heal from the inside out

22.01.2022 We are so excited to start offering yoga classes in the park! From next Monday May 18 we start our functional yoga course, Monday to Friday 8:00 - 9:00 am.

22.01.2022 #natarajasana (the dancer) allows you to practice balancing the two sides of the brain while you open your heart and your hip flexors. Release your pent up stress as you open up to the possibilities life presents.

21.01.2022 #yoga for #sleep is basically #yoganidra, a guided meditation that leads you into a place halfway between #meditation and dreamless #sleep. This allows your brain waves to slow down from extreme activity to a more relaxed tempo, helping you to sleep fitfully at night.

19.01.2022 Origami Yoga has the privilege of collaborating with Velvet Pesu on a Sunset Yoga workshop at the upcoming VergeFest in West End. Come join us for the healing combo of singing, yoga and Tibetan sound bowls. It's an unmissable yoga workshop!

19.01.2022 Come and move with us. Start the day by bending your spine every which way. It keeps you feeling better all day. We practise at 8 and 9 am Monday To Friday.

18.01.2022 When you sit for long periods of time, your shoulders begin to hunch over, your neck starts to hurt. Give yourself a mini break every hour or so and move the thoracic area.

17.01.2022 finding a quiet moment in your day to #meditate is hard. Early in the morning or just before you go to bed are the most natural times. I like to use my lunchtime to take time out to meditate. If you enjoy meditation, #yoganidra is very much like it, except it is a guided visualisation and sensory experience that allows you to fully disconnect from the outside world and reconnect with your inner world, your essence. It lets you listen to yourself and discover your most heartfelt desires.

15.01.2022 Sleep is not a luxury. It is a necessity. It is crucial to your ability to function both intellectually, professionally and biologically. If you lose sleep your immune system suffers. If you lose sleep your cognitive decline accelerates. If you lose sleep your reproductive capacity and your fertility decrease. If you have trouble sleeping, Origami Yoga can help you. We offer yogic sleep classes that trigger the relaxation response and facilitate the ideal brain activity that ...results in better sleep. Come to our Art of Sleep class every Tuesday at 6:15 pm. Book now on our website and claim your first free class. https://youtu.be/5MuIMqhT8DM

15.01.2022 #yoga servers different needs. Sometimes you just need to move, other times, you need to feel, and other times, you need to #openyourheart. Pavritta anjaneasana , otherwise known as revolved half-lunge is designed to open your heart, stretch your pecs, extend your spine, twist it and stretch your hip flexors, while sending endorphins coursing through you. It really is a pick me up for the rest of your day.

14.01.2022 #functionalmovement is the aim when we practice yoga asanas, as well as #mindfulmovement. To keep our spine supple we need to stretch it, bend it, twist it. To keep our hamstrings and calves functional we need to stretch them. To move in a nurturing way we need to yoke our movement to the rhythm of our breath. A preparatory pose to help you break down the fascia surrounding those areas is a deep assisted squat. Hold on to a pole or railing, walk away from it only as far as it allows you to squat deeply with your knees and feet parallel to each other. After two minutes, your range of motion will have improved. #yoga #yogaposes #squat #asiansquat #spinalhealth #hamstringstretch #calfstretch #yogaasanas #yogapractice #yogainthepark #outdooryogapractice #outdoorliving #outdooryoga #dailyyoga #dailyyogapractice @ Wilson Outlook Reserve

12.01.2022 On my way to teach yoga at Bulimba. Exciting new venue. #yogaasanas #yogapractice #bulimba #outdoorliving #queensland

12.01.2022 Sincere apologies for today's class sudden cancellation. We will resume on Monday afternoon

11.01.2022 Origami Yoga invites you to a yoga class enhanced by Velvet Pesu singing live as we practice at VergeFest this Saturday. https://m.facebook.com/events/2346889022223802?view=permalink&id=2371964009716303

10.01.2022 Sitting for long periods of time takes its toll on our bodies. Moving from side to side brings mobility back to the spine, shoulders, lateral ribs, hips and shoulders.

07.01.2022 Sitting at your desk all day while you work either from home or finally at the office, your back starts to feel stiff, your neck and shoulders get sore. Backbends can help ease that, by stretching and strengthening your spine, your back muscles and your core. We will be exploring and working up to specific backbends in each class, going step by step, preparing our backs for the final pose. Hope to see you at Wilson Outlook in New Farm. Payment is still by donation, so don't be afraid to show up if you can't afford to pay for a class.

05.01.2022 Lunchtime yoga at the Limes Hotel gives you the flexibreak you need

03.01.2022 Between the bushfires and the coronavirus I have never felt this powerless and impotent. It's a powerful reminder of our limits as humans. But if we surrender to the flow of the universe, our ability to contribute to the greater good presents itself. Practicing and teaching yoga brings this home to us.

03.01.2022 Imagine the breeze through your hair as you practice yoga at lunchtime, letting all your worries melt away

02.01.2022 VergeFestVelvet Pesu We are proud to announce our upcoming yoga workshop at VergeFest in West End Velvet Pesu singing as we practice.

02.01.2022 Thanks for the opportunity to teach at Mt Coot-tha Sunday Yoga in the Botanical Gardens. Everyone who came is welcome to try out our Art of Sleep classes on Tuesdays 6:15 in the Brisbane CBD.

01.01.2022 Getting to sleep fitfully depends on our habits: mental, physical and electronic. By using the breath in a controlled way, we can activate the relaxation response in our body just before going to bed.

01.01.2022 Twists are really important for your spine and back mobility. They also help strengthen intercostal muscles and abs. I call this pose Tibetan Prayer Wheel, because the movement reminds me of the artifact. To get the true benefits of this movement, you need to move in sync with the rhythm of your breath.
