Cervicogenic headache (CGH) is a headache that arises from tension and loading in the upper components of your neck and is felt in one or more areas of the head and/or face. What treatments we can do:... Cervical spine manipulation or mobilization - your Physio will generally spend some treatment time carefully and effectively loosening the joints in your neck to relieve pain and tension. Strengthening exercises your Physio will show you the correct exercises for your exact presentation these will often include strengthening the deep neck flexors and upper quarter muscles. Thoracic spine mobilisation and manipulation your Physio often treat your upper and mid back as tightness in these areas can contribute to your neck stiffening to predispose to your headache symptoms. You may also be taught how to do this yourself at home as well. Car and truck seats are not great for posture, so putting a small pillow (or even a pool noodle vertically) behind your back can help a lot with posture. Extra tip: It’s a good idea to get out of the car to stretch the hamstrings every 45 minutes to prevent them from becoming tight and pulling on the back. #HealthcareThatCares #longdriving
