25.01.2022 Do you guys remember the piggy that came in from a bird Avairy It was covered in ringworm a few weeks back? And remember how I told you she will be placed on pregnancy watch for a minimum of 10 weeks as I was unsure if she had been with a male well last night she gave birth to 4 beautiful babies also a few days ago One of our other Rescue girls (Who I have not showed photos of) gave birth prematurely unfortunately her two babies didn’t make it The gofund me is doing awesome still have a long way Though https://gf.me/u/y5km8i

12.01.2022 Can guinea pigs be housed with birds and chickens. Some people ask if their newly acquired piggies can live with their chickens or birds. Other times people wa...nt to also keep them in an avairy where birds once lived. The answer is no. Birds, chickens and guinea pigs carry the same diseases and parasites one of which can be deadly! COCCIDIOSIS or COCCIDIA Can spread at a rapid rate from your feathered or furry friends. Signs of Coccidia are diarrhea (there can be blood in the faeces) listless behaviour, dehydration and then they can die sometimes within hours. Coccidiosis is a parasitic disease of the intestinal tract of animals caused by coccidian protozoa.The infection spreads from one animal to another by walking through/coming in contact with infected faeces or ingestion of infected tissue. Coccidiosis has been responsible for the deaths of ENTIRE herds. Tiny-egg like infected structures called oocysts are passed out in the faeces into the environment where they develop (sporulate). Oocysts can survive in outside environments (ie: on the ground) for many months and are very difficult to kill - they are resistant to most disinfectants except for industrial strength ones & Infected cages must be treated with bleach, and disinfectant, dried and left vacant for some time, and all bedding burnt. If you are treating a gp for the condition, you must practice extremely strict hygiene methods to disallow spreading of the parasite to your other guinea pigs. Treatment is successful with Baycox, in Piglet form and must be prescribed by your vet, DO NOT use the Chicken form of Baycox on guinea pigs it will burn their throat out. The cost to treat and eradicate a severe case of coccidiosis (if your pet survives) can be as high as $300AUD not all vets are aware of nor treat for this condition initially, so its critical that owners are aware of the symptoms as time is of the essence. 05.01.2022 Today’s ARC Companion Animal Rescue Program features: Oscar’s rescue! ARC COMPANION ANIMAL RESCUE PROGRAM IN ACTION... You may be small, but you take up a big place in my heart. Oscar’s Rescue is a ‘Small Animal’ rescue in northern NSW that is operated by a wonderful young man named Oscar. Oscar’s Rescue assist in the rescue and rehoming of most kinds of small animals including guinea pigs, rabbits, mice, chickens, ducks and birds. Oscar’s has shown great initiative in fundraising and promoting their rescue work, and ARC were able to assist them by supplying companion animal food for the animals in their care. 04.01.2022 Hi everyone! This video is something I put together just to show you some of the cases we have seen and been to in the past. Many of wich I decided not to publicise until now. Running an animal rescue is one of the hardest and painful things, and while we try to post positive things, there is another darker side to it that often goes unseen. We work so hard for the animals in care, often going without ourselves.... We do have a small eBay store to try and raise funds for the rescue and provide afforable treatments for small animals, but this barely covers a fraction of our costs.
