Mental and emotional health need our attention, too. 1 Writing things down can help to free our minds of clutter and busyness. 2 Meditation and breath work help our nervous systems to relax, as well as giving us space in which to experience stillness and a mental break from a busy lifestyle. ... 3 Making conscious decisions about what and how much we read can prevent us from mental and emotional overload and burnout. 4 Focusing on what is within our power to do, rather than what isn’t, enables us to peacefully let go of those things, and to channel our energy into more productive and beneficial places. This, in turn, gives us a greater sense of control over our lives. 5 Human connection is an important part of our existence. Nurturing our relationships with others lowers levels of depression and increases happiness. 6Creativity is within all of us, whether you believe you can be creative or not. When we have an overflow of emotion, finding a creative outlet is a great way of funneling those emotions out of us, and bringing us back to balance.
