20.01.2022 The KAP is fighting hard for a reinsurance pool for North Queensland, and we won't stop until we get one. KAP's leader Robbie Katter MP and Bob Katter meet peop...le every day who can't afford to insure their homes because the prices are so outrageous. 1 in 4 North Queenslanders doesn't have insurance. "I am sick and tired of North Queensland residents having to pay $4,000 for house insurance every year, especially when the rest of Australia is paying $1,500 a year," @Bob Katter said. "Currently there is an Australian Reinsurance Pool Corporation which manages a reinsurance pool for terrorism related insurance claims. I would like to see that reinsurance pool expanded to include state of emergency events in Northern Australia." "I raised the issue with the Prime Minister during a meeting at Parliament House and I believe a reinsurance pool will change the ‘ball game’ for North Queensland. This is a huge issue in North Queensland which has been raised with me by numerous Chambers of Commerce groups, business owners, apartment owners and residents," Bob Katter said. While COVID threw some curveballs our way, we learn...t to adapt to the new way of operating during a pandemic & have come out stronger in the end because of it.
