24.01.2022 Let the SUN eliminate your Power Bill During my last 9 years in the Solar PV industry I have come across many exemplary community groups that are doing some amazing work with people within our communities. This has motivated me to want to help them to be self-sustaining, by reducing their operating costs particularly escalating power bills. This will enable them to continue the great work they are doing with some of the overlooked and marginalised groups in our communitie...s. A lot of those that I have come across are NFP groups. These NFP (Not for Profit) community groups operate entirely on financial support from people that value their humanitarian work that too often others would put into the ‘too hard basket’. Because of my involvement and experience in the ‘solar field’ I realised that I could offer my support by helping them source funding to install solar systems to offset their escalating power costs. With that in mind I began to write ‘grant applications’ to source funding that was available, mainly from the ‘GCBF a resource of $120 million setup by the Qld Govt each year, however this proved frustrating because as much as it was it just wasn’t enough as every NFP group throughout Qld was fishing from that same pond and it simply got fished out very quickly, leaving most of my clients receiving notification that they had been unsuccessful in that round of funding. With a new business plan, I approached the community focused Bendigo Bank to see if they would support by funding the clients that I bought them they agreed. So, with their support we have been able to form an alliance and to begin to accomplish our supportive goal. Through collaborative alliances with hardware wholesales, installers and competitive pricing we have been able to come up with a business model that will allow any NFP, business, or home owner an opportunity to eliminate or significantly reduce their power bill. This is possible simply by installing a Solar PV system, either self-financed or through the Bendigo Bank, the loan repayments being offset by the power savings of your solar system. The pay back term is 3 years and you own the system regardless of the system size. This is what I would call ‘Reaping Natures Reward’ & being a good steward of our natural resources by reducing our carbon emissions footprint and operating overheads. See more
