25.01.2022 At 7:30pm Wednesday 30th Dec, crews from One Tree Hill CFS were paged to a grass fire on Rutland Dr, Sampson Flat. Additional trucks from surrounding brigades ...were responded shortly after to assist with the firefight. The fire was quickly bought under control about an hour later. We greatly appreciate the 5-6 Farm Fire Units that also responded to help extinguish the fire. The cause of the fire is believed to be from fire crackers.

19.01.2022 The Uleybury Fire is now contained, with crews expected to remain on the fireground well into tonight mopping up and ensuring the area is completely extinguishe...d. The fire is also still creating a fair bit of smoke, so please make sure you’re keeping your doors and windows closed if you’re in an area affected. The fire came far too close for comfort for Adelaide’s Northern Suburbs and serves as a reminder to everyone in the outer suburbs to ensure you have a Bushfire Survival Plan and an emergency kit ready to go, in case fire threatens your home, you need to leave and then can’t return for some time. The fire was started by a slasher- with today’s cooler weather we know that it would have appeared to be a good day to use the machinery and this fire goes to show how quickly fires can get out of control in any conditions. Today’s fire was attended by over 160 CFS volunteers as well as MFS strike teams and Farm Fire Units. Do a 5 Minute Bushfire Plan here: https://www.cfs.sa.gov.au/bebushfireready/index.html What should go in your Emergency Kit? https://safecom-files-v8.s3.amazonaws.com//cfs_fact_sheet_

Landowners are asked to adhere to local harvest codes of practice which are available from your local council. Landowners are also asked to ensure that any burn-off activities conducted today are fully extinguished before midnight tonight. Agencies are advised to activate their Total Fire Ban procedures in preparation for these predicted fire weather conditions. Thank you to Geoff who brought the need of a footpath and upgrade to my attention in the last financial year. This project will greatly improve the connectivity and access of the Jordan Drive residents to the township. 13.01.2022 So, did SA Water bring a generator up to the OTH Water Pumping Station tonight when power was lost? If you had no water, then I guess not. This is why Progress is pushing the State government to have a permanent back-up generator located at the WPS. If SA Water don’t do it for routine outages they won’t do it during emergencies.

COVID-19 ADVICE If you are quarantining or isolating in an area of fire risk, you can leave that location if you are in an emergency or if your home is unsafe - but try to get back as soon as you safely can. If you need to attend a relief centre or a Bushfire Last Resort Refuge, you need to stay outside, alert emergency services at the location and follow their instructions. Advise emergency services that you have left quarantine or isolation due to COVID-19. Please ensure your emergency kits are updated to include masks, sanitiser, and any other items you may need to keep yourself safe and prevent any potential spread of COVID-19. 10.01.2022 Very High fire danger weather has been forecast across South Australia tomorrow, and we need you all to be vigilant and modify your behaviour over the next 24 h...ours. Parts of the state are extremely dry and while we might not have overly hot weather, the dry fuels and wind will be enough to see a fire quickly catch and take off. We have seen quite a few small fires already today, following last week’s Watch and Act level fire at Gould Creek. If you have done any burn offs or had any comfort fires on your property over the past few days, please take some time to ensure they are properly extinguished and cold to touch. If you’re going to be using any sparking machinery such as angle grinders, make sure you have plenty of extinguishing agents on hand. If you’re planning to conduct a burn off, please assess your local situation and hold off until the weather calms down. Rain forecast for Tuesday should see the fire danger risk subside.

03.01.2022 Congratulations to One Tree Hill CFS brigade members Tom Walsh, Mike Hawkey, David George and David Cockburn (in the photo) and also absent awardees Bruce Hobby and Paul Bebbington. These guys have all been awarded the National Medal for long and diligent service in a volunteer organisation where they have risked their lives or safety to protect our community. OTH had the most recipients in a single brigade. This demonstrates the depth of experience we have in OTH CFS. Well done lads.
