23.01.2022 Day 4 forest contemplation: divided attention, posture, and the perfect form. As we work to improve our awareness of health, we’re going deeper and beginning to look at the relationship between perception and soma, mind and body. This exercise is building on previous explorations and understanding the power of attention. It is easy, short, and powerful.

22.01.2022 A beaming full moon glaring over the octagon turret last night. A wild and powerful night up on the hill, I’m sure the animals and birds didn’t sleep much in the wind and the intense moon light. I know the humans didn’t There are different ways to work with the extra energy of a full moon, and it can certainly take a lot to calm the effects of the moon and the elements on your nervous system when you live in a natural environment that is completely uninterrupted. We love the strength and wildness of it all, and there is an intimacy here that constantly reminds us of our position in the natural world and also what we belong to. No doubt we’ll sleep well tonight. #moonlight #strengthinnature #gotosleepalready

21.01.2022 Happy solstice from us all here, we hope you enjoy the rain and tranquility of this magical transition. #summersolstice #peacefulmoments #seasonaltransition #welcomebacksummer

21.01.2022 As 2020 fades to black, I’d like to thank everyone for their love and support over the past year. Thank you to all the beautiful humans who have been a part of things here, in many ways it has been truly wonderful to grow stronger with you, to witness love and kindness at work, and for the sheer privilege of sharing this journey. Life wasn’t meant to be easy, and this is part of our growth, and discovering what is true and what is real. Life will give you whatever experience is most helpful for the evolution of your consciousness. How do you know this is the experience you need? Because this is the experience you are having at the moment. A favourite quote for Elkhart Tolle #takewhateverlifethrowsatyouandlearnfromit #acceptandembrace

20.01.2022 Wild weekend up here in the octagon no shortage of rainbows popping up, a sign that the wet weather and shorter days are here for a while. Lucky we love it and feel appreciative of the seasonal change. A sense of slow relief is in the air, around the whole lock-down pandemic situation. There is light appearing at the end of the iso tunnel. I hope you have had a chance to rest and use this quieter opportunity for more stillness and inner peace. It’s really needed, for everyone. I’m treating patients Tuesday Wednesday and Fridays. Take care, and feel free to get in touch for any osteopathic needs. #isotimes #osteopathyisntjustbones #healingjourney #resting

18.01.2022 so much collective change in the air. At the clinic in Geelong we decided to undergo some of our own reorganisation and with that has come a new name. Finding Health Osteopathy is about exactly that, finding health. Our objective is to see through the symptoms and collective noise surrounding our compromised state, so that we can find health and help bring it to the foreground of our function and our awareness. Finding health is the beginning and the end of every healing jour...ney, as we unlock what is already present and allow the expression of what is inherently normal to move us. We come to understand that as life itself, we are being breathed and moved by forces that are intelligent, and capable of expressing the deepest of healing. Health is not a static thing, or a known endpoint. It can be partly seen as an animated expression of form, ever changing like a river, and constantly moving towards normal. Health is both a blueprint for healing and the emergence of healing itself into our complete physiology. We cannot own it, we cannot bottle it, we cannot sell it, and we certainly cannot buy it. Yet it is always present. Always dwelling within each individual expression of life. We can try to understand it, and we can even work with it. In many ways this is the sole objective of an osteopath. We can then perhaps help somebody else find something that they may have lost, or forgotten, or misplaced. Something that was always there. Something that is always waiting. Something that is always full of potential and power. Something that helped you grow from the beginning of conception. This opens the door to many questions. We hope to help bridge the gap in understanding these questions, and allow people to have their own autonomous relationship with what may help them return to a state of wellbeing. Health is a dynamic state, and needs to be respected as such. Conceptual understanding doesn’t prove itself in the same way that Osteopathy does. So we practice Osteopathy, in order to find the proof, and to see for ourselves that we all possess the most incredible gift of healing within us. #healinghands #osteopathicmedicine #findinghealth #youonlyeverhealyourself See more

17.01.2022 Some tree love for the day.... 2 years ago, we planted three giant sequoias (sequoia giganteum), along with 8 coastal redwoods (sequoia sempervirens). These trees are very special. This guy is one of the 3 giants. It currently stands at metre tall, and was around 30cm when planted. With any luck, this tree will see many generations to come. Giant sequoias can live for thousands of years. They pre-dated and outlived dinosaurs by 70 million years. They can grow up to 100 metr...es, and they’re easily the largest trees on the planet. Such tremendous healing properties exist in these beings... We’re so lucky to have space to plant trees, especially the giant varieties. We can’t wait to see them grow big, sit under their shade, and admire how marvellous they truly are. We’re so connected to nature, if only we listen. #enjoytrees #babyseqouia #growforever #longtideretreat #bigtreelove See more

17.01.2022 Living in isolation makes isolation easy. We’re in a form of pandemic paradise here in the Otway hills... as long as we have food and firewood, we’re ok. We’re doing what we can to make sure you are ok too. I’m working more from home as I’m currently not working in Geelong. Anyone needing osteopathic care feel free to get in touch. #isoparadise #socialdistancingmadeeasy #osteopathyaliveinthehills

17.01.2022 Curly carrots, purple flowering cauliflowers, all very pretty and tasty too... we’re still reaping some winter sowing up here in the hills. Delicious stir fried. Home grown carrots taste amazing. Cauli’s, like any brassicas, are full of goodness and bound to lift your micronutrient levels. They have so many wonderful nutrients and anti-oxidants which are so important for taking care of our cells. All best eaten slightly cooked, although we do love to roast ours too, when all ...the natural sugars are released. Amazing how much diet has become integral in today’s complex and increasingly difficult to navigate world of nutrition. I would say what we put in is more than ever before a huge percentage of our well-being. There’s many food movements out there, probably thousands, but keeping it simple is always key, as is sticking with what works for you. Listen to your body. Remember there’s only one of you, and although we do share some common needs, we also have incredible diversity in our individuality. Our gut microbiome is key to immune health and nervous system function, including the all powerful autonomic nervous system. #brassicalove #eathomegrownveggies #youarewhatyoueat See more

13.01.2022 Day 2 guided forest meditation: Emptying the mind by watching our breathing. This exercise is great for adults and kids, and involves following your breathing, and watching what happens to breathing when it’s observed without control. Breathing, like many automated functions, is intelligent. It has the capacity to shift our awareness and dramatically change our physiology. Breathing through our nose is particularly important right now to reduce the risk of air borne infecti...on. Our specialised skin lining the nose, called mucosa, has very small gap junctions that blocks the movement of pathogens, even as small as viruses. As breathing becomes quiet, it gains a level of potency. In a way, it becomes more efficient as the body becomes more relaxed. Breathing is also a key to the balance of the nervous system, which along with the GUT, shares its function with our immune system. Calm nervous system & healthy GUT = more effective immune response. Simple really. Breathe easy, watch, and allow the direction of ease to express itself through one of our most beautiful and profound physiological functions. #immunebreathing #itsallinthebreath #onewholesystem #perceptualstudies #simpleisalwaysbest See more

11.01.2022 Day 5 forest contemplation: neutral mind, letting go of control and fear, observing with freedom. Now is the perfect invitation to let go into silence, into the moment, into what is. Utilise this opportunity. A neutral mind allows for the observer within to become unattached, and at ease. When we experience the inner peace that comes from becoming more neutral, we begin to find true freedom. Neutrality leads to a place of rest, immovable calm, and serenity.

10.01.2022 So happy to be planting trees this autumn. We have the luxury of space where we live, and I love redwoods for so many reasons. I’ve always wanted to plant a grove, and so it began... 8 seedlings planted in 2018, and they’re booming. Another 50 ready to go in the ground this month, and 150 cuttings today to go into seedling pots. I’m the hope they all take and I can plant them out next spring. It takes a couple of hundred redwoods to make a healthy grove, and that’s the aim.... Seems like the obvious thing to do right?? Well, yes... when you live in a forest with so much incredible rainfall. They love it here. The public coastal plantation in the Otways is thriving, and people are starting to wake up to the sheer beauty and majesty these trees possess. They truly are a wonder, something special. Guests @longtideretreat will be happy to see the trees grow big and strong, although in truth it’s the next generation that will really benefit :) #plantforthrfuture #treesaremagical #bigtreesgrowtall #whynotgrowamassiveredwoodgrove See more

07.01.2022 Day 3 forest guided meditation: emptying the mind by connecting to the inner fluid body, sensing the boundaries of function, and opening up space. This will help still thoughts, bringing you back into the moment. This aids in feeling a sense of calm, and aims to restore bodily functions to balance.

03.01.2022 Day 6 forest contemplation: unknowing. Enter into a state of pure awareness. Rest here, and come to a further understanding of your true nature. Be met with inspiration, wonder, and a deep sense that all is well. This time of isolation calls us to remember the beauty of being alone, and find that in such solitude we are completely free. When we meet ourselves in this way, we sense we have all that we need, we feel warmth, joy, and we become filled with gratitude.

02.01.2022 Horizontal rainbow over the hill what a cool thing to see... it’s absolutely rainbow season up here and I’m treating Wednesday and Fridays should you need some osteopathic help. Take care and enjoy the fresh sunshine #rainbows #osteopathy #natureisbeauty
