22.01.2022 ***OCP Hampers Update*** Warragamba & Surrounds Families, Hampers are back tomorrow night, we will post the photo, contents and collection details shortly, thank you for your patience

20.01.2022 ***Christmas Hampers Update*** To our Warragamba and surrounding families, thank you for your patience in regard to our change of dates for Christmas Hamper collections. We hope that this update finds you, your loved ones and your homes all well and safe. The moment we knew the inevitable was going to happen with the fires, we knew we had to step up and do what we can to keep our firefighters and emergency workers fed, hydrated and stocked up so that they can get on with loo...king after us. Due to the urgency and magnitude of this task we have not been able to answer all of your questions from the last few days. Depending on the upcoming weather and fire conditions, we are planning to get to packing Hampers tomorrow to have them available for collection Monday evening. Please keep an eye out on our facebook page for confirmation of the new collection day/time. We are doing everything we can to ensure that your Christmas Hampers will be available before Christmas Day.

19.01.2022 Please consider supporting this local initiative which will support the Wollondilly and Wingecarribee local communities to rebuild from the 2019 Bush Fires. Sadly our community will be remembered as the "bushfire village that ran out of water." Our Community Pantry Bush Fire Recovery & Rebuild has several objectives, all which are specific, place-based and targeted for those most at need. This means your support stays in our community, goes directly to those impacted and will... be used to rebuild our community long term. This approach to Disaster Recovery addresses the collective problems and challenges of families at a local level and involves a focus on community-strengthening. It also seeks to reduce the barriers of policies and systems and is flexible and responsive to our community. Thank you for your support, we hope this model can be used by future decision makers to influence policy on localised community solutions. Community working towards resolving community issues - the way it should be! See more

18.01.2022 What a brilliant idea! Do you find your kids opening the fridge or pantry and complaining that there is nothing to eat (when clearly there is too much for them to choose from) Try this at your home, does it spark their creativity? Does it reduce your food waste and food bill? A simple and innovative idea, includes a free download to print and use in your fridge and pantry at home, or at work. I think we will have these available for all at Pantry https://www.lifehacker.com.au//avoid-food-waste-with-an-e/

18.01.2022 Warragamba & Surrounds Families, we have some exciting news to share with you. Our new purpose-made and branded Hamper Bags have finally arrived! This happy news sees the end of our Styrofoam boxes (no more chasing lids in our driveway) .and a few other changes. What do these bags mean for our members? 1. What does this mean if you have previously collected Hampers before? ... Simply bring in your current bags/boxes and we will exchange them for your new bags at your next Hamper Collection. 2. What does this mean if this is your first time collecting a Hamper? You will be charged a one-off $5 Bag Fee (please nominate this option when ordering Hampers online), this fee allows you to participate in our Bag Swap initiative. Keep your bags clean and in good condition and you can swap them for free at an upcoming Hamper Collection. 3. What happens at Hamper collection with the Hamper Bags? Your Hamper will be prepacked in new bags awaiting your collection. When you arrive to collect your Hamper, you will be able to surrender your bags in exchange for a $5 Bag Return Voucher (one per bag). Hand in these vouchers when receiving your Hamper so you will not be charged for new bags. Alternatively, you can do a direct swap upon collection of your Hamper. Please note that bags will be checked and must be returned clean and in good condition otherwise you will be issued another $5 Bag Fee. Please note, only our branded Black and Orange bags will be accepted. 4. What if I forget my bags? At Our Community Pantry in our café, Coffee Rescue, we have incentivised reducing waste by becoming a Responsible Café. This means we charge an extra 50c for anybody who forgets to bring their own mug (alternatively members can borrow a mug from our mug library). Whilst nobody likes to pay extra, it does make us more conscious and mindful of our habits and reducing waste. This is the same theory behind our Hamper Bags. For every bag you forget to bring back, or that you do not have a Return Voucher for, you will incur an extra $5 fee/bag. 5. What if I do not want to pay another $5 Hamper Bag Fee? This one is simple, look after you bags, keep them dry, return them and you do not have to pay another $5 Hamper Bag Fee! If you have any questions regarding our Hamper Bags, please do let us know. We will be rolling out our new look bags this week; Hampers will be much quicker and easier!

15.01.2022 To all of our families who have ordered or are waiting to order a Christmas Hamper at Warragamba, our apologies for the late update. Unfortunately today’s fires have impacted our normal duties at Our Community Pantry in Bargo. We have been evacuated from Bargo, many volunteers have been evacuated from their homes, some volunteers were today fighting fires, others were even protecting their own homes. Thankfully everybody is safe and accounted for. Today’s weather and fire co...nditions will impact our ability to deliver our Christmas Hamper on the advertised dates, obviously the safety of our staff and volunteers is paramount. We are monitoring conditions and waiting for further advice from our emergency service to announce further details. Whilst we may not be able to run our advertised Hamper Collection sessions tomorrow or Saturday, we will announce as soon as we can alternate collection times. With cooler weather conditions ahead after Saturday we will be doing everything we can to arrange collection times before Christmas Day. At the moment, our priorities are to remain safe, out of the way of emergency services and to do what we can, with the assistance of Foodbank NSW& ACT to support evacuation points and our emergency service officers and volunteers. We appreciate your concern, all of the messages checking up on the team, your patience and your continued support through the next few days. Please be safe and heed the advice of emergency services. 14.01.2022 ***Hampers Update*** Warragamba & Surrounds families, as you may be aware OCP's bushfire relief impacted heavily on the team over what should have been our Christmas and New Year break. We are encouraging our team members to take a break over the coming months, and as a result, this week's scheduled Hampers in Warragamba is being postponed. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for updates. If you have purchased a hamper we will contact you directly to discuss options.

01.01.2022 Good morning Warragamba & Surrounds families, After several weeks of evaluation and assessing the challenges and our available resources with regard to Warragamba Hampers, a decision has been made by the Board. Unfortunately, due to the logistics involved and our limited and stretched resources, we cannot continue to deliver the service to Warragamba. ... We would like to take this opportunity to thank the community and the volunteers who have worked with us. We have met many wonderful families, which makes this decision even harder to announce, but one that has had to be made based purely upon viability. OCP are aware of other agencies wanting to service the area that will be able to offer a similar concept. We wish them the best and are grateful that we have been able to bring to the community a concept that we hope will be viable for them. Hampers are still available for all members should you be able to collect from Bargo. A final point, we will be in contact with anybody who may have ordered a Hamper to arrange a refund from the last scheduled collection.
