19.01.2022 IASC has a new collaboration with Global Hands-On Universe and Our Solar Siblings. We are bringing Internet-accessible telescopes into the classroom. The teles...copes are 0.4-m in size and are from the Las Cumbres Observatory, which has a worldwide network of 12 of these instruments. The following is a test image of Comet Iwamoto taken on the evening of February 11, 2019, by IASC Technical Coordinator Raul Valadez. Images can be taken of deep sky objects such as gas and dust clouds, galaxies, open clusters, globular clusters, and planetary nebulae. Images can be taken of the planets, asteroids, and comets. There will soon be an invitation to schools and other citizen science groups interested in participating. This first invitation is limited. There will only be 50 spaces. 10.01.2022 The Centre for Online Science & Mathematics Outreach (COSMO) includes the 100-for-100 Project. This is a collaboration of Las Cumbres Observatory (LCO), Global... Hands-On Universe (GHOU), Our Solar Siblings (OSS), and the International Astronomical Search Collaboration (IASC). Teachers from 100 schools are given an hour each on the LCO 0.4-m Internet-accessible telescope network. The teachers come from 50 countries They are being shown how to use a telescope with camera and how to use the astronomical images in their classrooms. For more information, go to the IASC web site at http://iasc.cosmosearch.org/LCO.html. As with all COSMO programs, there is no cost to the teachers. Everything is free. The following are some of the deep sky images taken by the teachers. M16 (Eagle Nebula), M42 (Great Orion Nebula), M51 (Whirlpool Galaxy), M81 (Bode's Galaxy)

04.01.2022 Omega Centauri is a large collection of 10 million stars in the Milky Way Galaxy, and located 16,000 light years from Earth. The stars are believed to be older... than twice the age of the Sun. Here is an image taken by students in the 100-for-100 Project offered to 100 schools in 50 countries. This outreach project is organized by the Las Cumbres Observatory, Global Hands-On Universe, Our Solar Siblings, and the International Astronomical Search Collaboration (IASC). Over the Internet, students use a network of eight 0.4-m telescopes located around the world. If your class or citizen science group would like to participate, send an email to IASC at [email protected]. Participation is free!!
