20.01.2022 DROUGHT TRANSPORT SUBSIDY INCREASE The NSW Government has increased the Emergency Drought Transport Subsidy to ensure farmers can continue to access support to ...transport fodder, stock and other farm inputs. From today, the subsidy will increase to $50,000 per eligible primary producer this financial year. I know it’s getting harder, and its important to continue to help primary producers work through this drought. This is an immediate injection to increase the scale of the subsidy, which has been the most widely taken-up measure of the Nationals’ $3.9 billion drought response. The Emergency Drought Transport Subsidy provides drought affected farmers in NSW with subsidies for the transport of fodder, water and stock and other farm inputs, like chemical or seed. Subsidies may be used to transport: Stock to and from agistment; Stock to sale or slaughter; Fodder or water to stock on drought affected properties. To find out more about the eligibility criteria and how to apply, visit www.raa.nsw.gov.au//transport-subsidy-emergency-drought-re or phone the NSW Rural Assistance Authority on 1800 678 593

19.01.2022 Fire conditions have eased with light rain falling across the fire ground. The fire continues to burn in the areas of Upper Taylors Arm, Thumb Creek and the New... England National Park and is being monitored for any change. Firefighters will continue working to control the fire and strengthen containment lines where conditions allow. While conditions remain unchanged the 'Major Fire Update' on the Fires Near Me app will be retired. Please continue to monitor conditions and the Fires Near Me app for any change. As a reminder that we have people from everywhere joining us on our team, here is picture sent to our Saskatchewan local Kevin from his wife, her report was that it was a lovely day, -10 degrees and sunny!

14.01.2022 Our latest community newsletter for bushfires in the Kempsey and Nambucca Local Government Areas. Many of you asked us to reinstate the red dots that denote act...ive fire, this does not mean that all danger has ceased where no active fire is identified. Given the extent of the fires and the underlying dry conditions we ask that you remain vigilant. We have also tried to improve the location text. Let us know what you think. See more

09.01.2022 WEATHER UPDATE - Kempsey-Nambucca fires 11:00am 19 December 2019 There is widespread smoke across the region today. This is more to do with wind direction and ...a strong inversion layer than increased fire activity at this stage. Our firegrounds are in a wind boundary between dry westerly winds and more humid east winds. We're hoping the east winds will hold their influence throughout the day, however, when the inversion layer lifts late morning, it will get dryer and winds may increase. Forecast for the fireground NNW of Kempsey is hot and dry, maximum temperature 35 degrees with minimum relative humidity around 20%. With elevated fire danger forecast over coming days, residents are urged to be vigilant and watch for new fire outbreaks and re-ignitions in already burnt areas. If you see a fire (ie. flames or new column of smoke) with no firefighters in attendance, report it through 000. See more
