25.01.2022 Think of others please.

24.01.2022 The trip is coming to an end with Trevor, Sue and Glennis heading for Bimbigy to try and beat the rain to place plaques and Blue and Mary back in town. Julie and Alex are preparing to head home via Comet Vale and Kanowna and other cemeteries. Back again in June.

23.01.2022 Hi all, We are still working hard behind the scenes during the lock down, with Trevor and his merry men busy setting up new engravers in the Westcare factory and Glennis, Julie and Lorraine researching the information behind the plaques. There are in excess of 160 plaques in the production line and when the travel restrictions are relaxed a tad more they will be taken out and installed. As of late last week the boys passed the 700 plaque mark, a magnificent effort by Trevor a...nd his team. The website has a facility where you can print out or save as a PDF all the information regarding any entry in the database so you can use it for research for school projects or family research. The photos below are of one of the records you can view and download from the website

22.01.2022 Hot off the Press: Outback Grave Markers now has a YouTube presence with some of the videos and interviews uploaded by our very busy Treasurer and and Webmaster, Lorraine. There are now also links to both Facebook and YouTube on our website. On the front page of the website scroll to the bottom of the page and you will see in the Quick Links section theYouTube and Facebook links, just click on the one you want and you will be redirected to it. There is a trip to the Goldfiel...ds being planned for April to install plaques and also investigate the next phase of work with the Shires of Leonora, Laverton, Menzies, Sandstone and Wiluna. Without the support of these Shires we would not be able to continue with the work and the support is very much appreciated. The first of the two new engravers has arrived and it is hoped to have things set up in the Westcare premises this month as OGM moves into the next phase of its development. Many thanks to all those who have supported us in our efforts to save, record and publish the rich history of the state's remote areas.

22.01.2022 Where it all started from: https://youtu.be/OfyQUQUbR5E The ABC filmed the first plaques in 2015 now we are some 450 plus on in the 4 years with more being made as we speak. This is all been done by a small group of volunteers and the LEONORA Shire has sponsored the Leonora Project with financial assistance. Outback Grave Markers is a totally self funded organisation with all funds raised being spent on materials for plaques and the engravers and website. If you would like to support the organisation please contact [email protected]

22.01.2022 The adventurers are on the road and making great strides in the epic trip to install 140 plaques between Leonora and the top end of the Kimberley. Trevor, Sue, Blue and Don have been busy installing plaques at the Lake Raeside cemetery near the Old Malcolm townsite on the Malcolm Lookynie Road. The crew caught up with the Kalgoorlei Miner reporter Shannon Verhagen and photographer Tori O'Connor, have a look at the Kalminer to read the story. https://www.kalminer.com.au/ Th...e photos below are at the Old Yundramindra Cemetery where the plaques were placed yesterday. The volunteers also met with the Shire of Leonora and they have pledged continuing support for the Project. If you would like to help OGM to keep up this work across the state visit the website and donate or adopt a plaque from the 500 plus on the site. Well done guys as it was a bit chilly out there!! 21.01.2022 Last night OGM were seen at the Regional Achievement & Community Awards held at the Hyatt. The awards recognise groups and individuals from across Regional WA and I must say we were among some fantastic community groups to be recognised and nominees. Although we were not among the finalists we were well recieved and the work we do was recognised.

21.01.2022 Great rain about the place from the goldfields to the wheatbelt and beyond caused a rush by Trevor and Sue to beat any road closures to place the plaque at Bimbijy with the help of Tania from Bimbijy. The photo says it all!!

21.01.2022 These are the thumbnails from the previous post of Cattaneo, you may be able to read these a bit better

20.01.2022 Trevor and Suzie and Blue have completed the massive effort and now Blue is home and Trevor and Suzie relaxing with the grandies in Karratha before headin back to Perth to complete the 8,000km plus trip. Here are some of the many photos and stories from the last part of the trip and it appears that they have gone where man has not ventured in a many years. Under the guidance of Sam Lovell and accopmaned by some of his family the adventure included road building to cross cree...ks and 3.5 hours to travell 9km. Listen to the interview with Trevor on ABC Broome at the https://www.abc.net.au//pro/breakfast/bush-graves/11365348 . Some note from Suzie: Thank you to Sam Lovell and his nephew Michael Lovell, his wife Leanne and their two boys Jacob and Cody, as we had the bonus of their huge help with road building to get into this place. Also with the rocks for the grave to place the plaques as it was very very hard ground. Took 3+ hrs to get 30kms with the caravan from the turn off at the Tunnel Creek Rd. and then the next morning 4hrs to get in 9.3kms without the caravan. Up and down creeks, washouts and riverbeds with boulders. Leanne and I were both having kittens as you might say as it was a bit harry scarry!!! Had the pups with us as well who were entertained and loved by the boys. Sam didn't miss a beat. "Move em out" or "a bit up and down" were his famous sayings. The full story will be added to the website www.outbackgraves.org as soon as possible when the travellers are back home. See more

20.01.2022 Check out the video on this link. Outback Grave Markers song released by Lee Forster and penned by Trevor Tough, Paul Prickett and Lee. Thank you Lee a great contribution to the cause. https://www.facebook.com/100000681226309//2680148338684514/... Outback Grave Markers Inc was established in 2014 as a volunteer, not for profit organisation to find and mark the graves of Australias pioneers and to publish their stories. It recognises that once the graves physically disappear, then so do the stories. Considerable research is carried out to verify all details before they engrave the plaques on 3mm aluminium. So far Outback Grave Markers have made and installed nearly 600 plaques across the Pilbara, Kimberley and Goldfields in Western Australia. It is believed it will take 50 to 100 years to mark the bulk of the lonely, pioneer graves across Australia. In April 2019, a project to present Army service medals to Aboriginal soldiers who had served in NORFORCE in the Kimberley was rolled out. Ex-soldiers at Kalumburu and at Warmun were honoured at ceremonies in each community with the presentation of their medals by Mr Keith Payne VC. Outback Grave Markers Inc made and installed plaques on two soldiers graves at Kalumburu and one at Warmun. It was during that trip that Major Paul Prickett CSM (Retd) wrote the poem Outback Graves, which Lee Forster has put to delightful music and recorded. About this track... Whilst on a trip with Outback Graves, Trevor Tough and Major Paul Prickett to the Kimberley, where Ex -Aboriginal Soldiers were being awarded Army Service medals, Lee visited graves that had been and were being marked. When paying respects they pondered what really lies beneath the Red Dust. As they drove along, Paul wrote a poem about this visit.

19.01.2022 A tip for the new Website: When you are viewing an entry you can print or save as a the record. Go to the Printer Icon at the top right next to the LOGIN and print or save as a PDF. This will give you the complete record which may be multiple pages depending on the amount of information we have been able to discover. Enjoy the journey!!

16.01.2022 Well today the most dilligent research and physical challenges have been overcome and at last the plaque for James McHugh has been placed at the site we believe is his final resting place. Mark Bogaers and the Toyota Landcruiser Club have been working on this project since 2017 and today was the cullmination of a lot of work by Celeste Waghorn in conjunction with OGM and the TLCWA. The location is remote and difficult to access but a bit of walking, some lost paint from cruisers and quad bikes it is finally done. Great work by the TLCWA on behalf of OGM. Very proud of you all. Check out this link to OGM website: https://www.outbackgraves.org//buri/burialsite/147734.html

16.01.2022 Hi all, These are uncertain times for all and we need to keep us all as safe as possible and, to all our followers and supporters regardless of where you are, we urge you to stay safe and head the information from our Health Department. The link below is to the Health Department site and it has videos and print messages to help us all get through this bump in the road of life.... The many folk we are making plaques for did not have the advantage of this type of advice or any of our specialised services and treatments so, to keep honouring them, it is imperative that we stay fit and healthy. https://www.health.gov.au//launch-of-the-coronavirus-covid

15.01.2022 Another babe recognised so close to my old home at Koorda.

14.01.2022 Great opportunities for Community Based Groups, we will try again next year, thanks for the opportunity to participate.

14.01.2022 Hi all, Sorry for the long break in communications via FB. We are back at it in earnest, although Trevor has been flat out with a regular spot on Curtin Radio with Jenny Seaton when he tells some of the stories behind the graves OGM have marked so far. Last Thursday Jenny also played the song by Lee Forster that was penned by Paul Prickett and set to music by Lee which has been adopted as our theme song.... Many thanks to Lee and Paul for this great song. You can listen on the link below and we hope to have it downloadable on the website shortly. https://1drv.ms/u/s!AnHlSKHo2aXlZ1oPRclNiz8oSYA?e=eCZUHl

12.01.2022 Part two of the record you will be able to print or save.

12.01.2022 Just another teaser from the Lawlers group of plaques being produced for the next trip to the Goldfields.

12.01.2022 Adding to the Sandstone Cemetery markers the Sandstone Shire has published and article and some photos in the Bush-Telegraph available on the Shire wesite below. https://www.sandstone.wa.gov.au//2/bush-telegraph-may-2021

11.01.2022 It's happening!!!! The new Website is now being loaded and will be ready to go live Sunday afternoon......fingers crossed!! If you try and visit the site as usual you will be shown the message below. Outback Graves Outback Graves... The new Outback Graves website is coming soon. Please check back again. Username Password Please be patient as the wait will be worthwhile as there will be around 450 names that will be searchable for dates, stories, photos and the like and also the ability to produce and print information old particular people. This has been a massive investment by the group made possible in a major part by the support of the Leonora Shire Council and some generous individuals as the group is totally voluntary and self funded. If you would like to help us maintain the work we are doing there will be an opportunity on the website to pledge donations which will all be spent on materials for plaques and the web site.

10.01.2022 Oooops, it is not all plain sailing on the Outback Graves Trail. A few flat tyres today two for Blue and one for Trevor and only 6000km to go!! Resupply in Newman tomorrow, safe travels guys.

09.01.2022 The workers have been hard at it in the Lake Raeside Cemetery near the Old Malcolm townsite with 105 plaques installed. Well done guys. Shire President Peter Craig and CEO Jim Epis visited the site yesterday and are pictured with Trevor, Don and Blue while Suzie was the photographer. The Shire is a great supporter of the Project and also the Leonora RSL who donated $1,000 towards the work. Terry, from the RSL, dropped by to see the work today as well. A massive effort by the team with the great support of the community. Time to slow down a little now with the big job done. Travel well on the next leg of the journey.

08.01.2022 Not sure if the earth quake in Broome had anything to do with the OGM team arriving or not but hope all settles down before they start out on the Gibb River Road later today. The photos below show yet another isolated grave which is now marked and waiting the researchers to delve into the archives to tell yet another story that we can load to the website. Trevor, Suzie and Blue are heading off down the Gibb River Road to meet up with a long time friend and a man of incredible knowledge of the Kimberley, in Sam Lovell AM. With out people like Sam OGM would not be able to gain the insight we are gathering of the early days in the region and be taken to the sites of many lost burial sites. Safe travels on the Gibb River Road and keep the wheels on!!

08.01.2022 The lonely graves of thousands are strewn across outback WA. Most are long forgotten. Until now. A group of volunteers called Outback Grave Markers are rememb...ering these lost souls by finding graves and marking them with plaques. In the process they are not only bringing dignity to these long-dead souls, but capturing their stories for posterity.

08.01.2022 On the first trip in April, sadly, Trevor and Suzie lost their much loved dog Holly, and today she is remembered with a plaque.

07.01.2022 It happened this afternoon at around 2.45pm WE ARE ALIVE!!!! The new website is a great experienec and is a living breathing entity that will be added to on a daily basis at this stage with more interesting information to be added to the entries. As of today there have ben 556 plaques made with just over 100 to be installed in the next two months. The stories of these will be added as we do the research and varify the facts. A BIG BIGthank you to all who made this possible. ...Check out the Interactive Map under the Discover Tab. As you select areas there will be icons placed on the map image and when you select the icon it will expand to show the grave sites marked. Enjoy!! Outback Gravemarkers volunteers hope you enjoy the journey as much as we do. See more

06.01.2022 After the fantastic sunrise it was back to work with the installation of plaques at Bamboo Creek with the support of the Mine Manager and researcher Faye Myers with family support. 15 plaques placed here and I am sure Faye will "dig up" some more for us in the near future. Great to have you and Jeff on board.

05.01.2022 Some of the crew are getting ready for the next plaque installation at all points between Leonora and the Kimberley. Trevor, Suzie and Blu, along with Don, who will be at Leonora, will be heading out at the end of the week to install some 120 plaques at the following sites: Lake Raeside, Mt Sir Samuel, Milgun Station, Yarrie Station, Ben Dhu, Nobby's Well, Mondooma, Napier Downs, Richenda, Mt Broome, Bamboo Creek, Slaty Hole - Mt House, Mt Barnett and ...other locations. The bulk of the plaques will be installed at Lake Raeside Cemetery, Malcolm, as part of the continuing Leonora Project in partnership with the Leonora Shire. A trip of some 8,000km will take 5 weeks or so to complete then it will be back to the production fo more plaques. In the mean time there is plenty of work in the background with research to complete the stories on the website and to varify the entries and plaque locations to ensure the map information is correct. Most of these plaques are on Private Property so if you are keen to visit the site please contact either Trevor [email protected] or myself [email protected] so we can organise access. Visit the website: www.outbackgraves.org See more

05.01.2022 The intrepid crew are hard at it with more plaques installed at Mt Sir Samuel, 299 Grave Site on the Rabbit Proof Fence, Birrigin Cemetery on the Sandstone Wiluna Road, Nalthana Cemetery at the old Quinns township near Hillview Station and garves at Milgun Station. At Milgun the team met up with Judith and Wayne as Wayne's grandfather is buried there. Job well done, sorry about the flat tyres on the way out. Heading toward north after camping between Bamboo Creek and Muccan Station with plaques for both sites. Take care on your travels.

05.01.2022 What a sight to wake up to!!! Sunrise at Bamboo Creek.

04.01.2022 Outback Grave Markers will be in Leonora this weekend to chat with locals and hopefully gather some more stories and information on the many "Lost Souls" in the region. Hope to see you there at the Gift. Check out this link to an article by Kate Ryan of the "West". https://thewest.com.au//120-year-old-grave-mystery-haunts-

03.01.2022 Another milestone for Outback Grave Markers with the signing of a MOU with Tracker Prance of South Australia who is taking OGM eastward. Tracker has bitten the bullet and will be embarking on the OGM journey in the wide open country of SA with a few incursions into the NT and Queensland as he has a taste for the Corner Country. We welcome Tracker with open arms and look forward to hearing of his adventures as he re-establishes friendships in an area he worked in for years some time ago. We will post Trackers contact details later when he has had a chance to absorb the brain washing of the last few days he has had with Trevor learning the skills of engraving and a brief introduction to the OGM website and the associated database.

02.01.2022 Blue and his son have been at it again and the great video is just outstanding. Great dedication to make sure those souls who went before us are remembered in a fitting way and preserved in this fabulous video. Thanks guys very much for your on going efforts.

02.01.2022 Hi to all our supporters and friends, we trust you are all well and catching up on all the little jobs you have been putting off for so long now your at home for a while. At this time as we head toward ANZAC DAY I thought it appropriate to post the clip of Remembering as we can all reflect on those who made Australia what it is today, a country of inclusion and respect. As Outback Grave Markers honours the past pioneers of all races we also reflect, in these interesting times..., on the success of that have come from the adversity many faced in the early days. I hope you enjoy the clip below and we ask that you all stay safe and we look forward to getting together post COVID. Stay safe.

01.01.2022 Outback Grave Markers Inc amongst the Nominees, humbled to be in such company.

01.01.2022 OGM is delighted that we have done something for Moya as Outback Family History has been a great supporter of OGM since our inception. Visit the Outback Family History site via the link below. https://www.outbackfamilyhistory.com.au/ The support of the Sandston Shire Council has made this possible along with the hard work of the OGM volunteers.

01.01.2022 If you try and visit the www.outbackgraves.org site you will see this notice until the Launch on Sunday afternoon. It will be worth waiting for as it contains some 500 entries and is being added to on a daily basis with a band of researchers working tirelessly to update have it all loaded by the launch.

01.01.2022 Well we are moving toward the launch of the new website with the uploading of in excess of 500 sites under way, complete with as many details about the person as we can possibly gather and varify. The varification of information is a challenge as there can be many conflicting stories around some of the characters we have on the database. The use of the genealogy research guidelines is the basic tennent for this with the Government records and first hand accounts written at the time of death being paramount. Keep an eye out for the launch date which will be published here.
