21.01.2022 When my younger daughter started high school, I made her this felted laptop cover. Now that she has graduated and is finding her own wings in the world, I am glad that this electronic device, dependent on rare earth metals for efficacy, has been wrapped all these years in a very individualised love. Matter is sacred, a part of our bodies and beings - when we create a thousand look alike items with hardly a mention of where the materials come from, what journey was undergone to create them, we create what I call "matter in purgatory" - separated from the reverence and recognition that is Matter's due. Hand made conscious artwork can wrap a material object back into respect, reciprocity, story of Earth. #handfelting #wetfelting #feltingwithintention #consciousart #earthwitch #bringingourworldhome
18.01.2022 I feel no great hope for humanity's capacity to return - as a collective - to Custodianship as our core value, in time to preserve this beautiful web of life that we have evolved together with. But I feel great love. Maybe sometimes, love is hope. #easter #theworkthatreconnects
06.01.2022 Lying on this earth looking up at this sky, the mingled leaf-scape of immigrant pines with eucalypt. I'm close to a road and the cars pour by. I imagine weaving the roar with the rustle and flow of wind in branches, the call of a raven, a raucous cockatoo. Somehow letting it all become a song that makes sense to our wide and motor noise-deluged world. A kind of redemption. It's an idea that flickers and plays in my mind, my ears, my senses. Perhaps the flicker is a prayer, born of a bigger Me than the place my skin stops. Greetings, Day. Exactly as we are. #everydayearthwitch #bringingourworldhome #cloudwatching #pinetrees #eucalypts
04.01.2022 Looking for rocks for a fire circle today, I realise (because of where I find them) that one of the services trees do as they fall naturally is to bring up rocks and earth from beneath the ground to the surface, available for the miracle of weathering, soil, growth. The reason I am holding space with a fire today is because I cant make it to the march in Toolangi in support of the trees, the forests, those that survived the bushfires and continue to provide oxygen, habitat, beauty, lock in carbon - and are now being felled by Vic Forests. So I give what I can here in my place, to stand with those who stand for trees. It feels appropriate that I receive this teaching today, from the trees themselves, about rocks and death and the reciprocal nature of Nature. #woiwurrungcountry #bringingourworldhome
04.01.2022 Mothers Day. Good night Mama, thank you for light and colour, for air, for breath, for water, for plants and trees and the vast web of all-our-relations. Thank you for a day lived in the miracle embrace of being human, with mind to think, eyes to see, heart to care, legs to walk as part of your unfolding story. I love you, I am you. Thank you, thank you. #mothersday
